This three storey Grade II listed 19th century terraced cottage is set in the very centre of Bellingham. A quirky property retaining many original features including the old range in the kitchen, a reminder of bygone days. Bellingham is popular with walkers and cyclists and is a famed stop off town for those walking on the Pennine Way. The town sits on the banks of the Tyne and is known as the gateway to Kielder Water and Forest Park. The cottage is next to the quiet local pub (no music), where you are welcome to use the Wi-Fi. The local golf course is within walking distance and fishing is popular in the area. Walkers will enjoy visiting Hareshaw Linn Waterfall nearby, a bird of prey centre and picnic areas. Of course the vast Northumberland National Park is a highly acclaimed international gold tier dark sky park famed for star gazing and photography, and a visit to the observatory is a must, (booking is essential). It’s a great base for visiting the Kielder Winter Wonderland or Marathon, and the area is ideally located to reach all the county with a glorious beach at Druridge Bay, 36 miles, and the Roman town of Corbridge is only 18 miles with Hadrian’s Wall close by. The border town of Jedburgh in Scotland is only 32 miles and is the starting point for exploring this very historic area, famed for the battles between Scotland and England. The abbey at Hexham is only 16 miles, and here you will find plenty of shops and places to eat. Johnny’s Cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends on a budget and a perfect base for exploring Northumberland. Shop 250 yards, pub 10 yards, restaurant 200 yards.

Excellent cottage and facilities, with only minor downfall being the use of one bathroom between six guests, and the tiny television. Superb location, in a lovely village with 3 pubs, chinese takeaway, shop, bakery and butchers. The pub next door (Rose & Crown) was really handy, whilst the Cheviot Hotel had excellent real ales, fire and top quality food. If you like walking, there are areas to explore in abundance around the locality, and we would highly recommend a trip to Kielder Forest. The owner was most helpful throughout, polite, and we wish them well with this venture!

Great dog friendly cottage, plenty of room even for 3 golden retrievers! Great location, pubs and shops and a Chinese takeaway within seconds walk, and wonderful walks along the river. Half an hour from Kielder and an hour or so from Bamburgh. Thanks so much!
