We stay one week in Johannas Cottage and we enjoy our stay! The Location is so beautiful located in the middle of a Sheepfarm with great view on the sea. Quiet place and every attraction of the ring of Kerry is good to reach. The water in the house cames directly from the hill and the heating can be done with fire! Amazing experience. The owner give us good advices what to do and where to go. His so helpfull and his storyes and jockes give us a feel to the irish living. The House is in a verry good irish condition and was pefect cleaned as we arrived. It has all we need, but really simple, thats why i give only a 7 to comfort and Equipment. Not to forget Marco the Dog how likes to shake hands. All in all the perfect Irelandexperience!

Lovely, comfy, cozy cottage with spectacular views. Our host Michael could not have been more helpful. He gave us great suggestions as far as what to see and do, as well as the best directions to get there. We would definitely stay here again.

Overall rating: There is room for improvement, but it is already a great improvement on what it was some years ago. Comfort and Equipment: The charm of this cottage is its simplicity. Michael has tried to keep the resemblance to its historical past, so there is a lack of some more modern equipment. Location: this is second to none. There is no prettier place than Derrynane bay, and the view from the cottage is beyond what words can tell. Cleanliness: Ancient structures are resistant to extreme cleanliness. This has to be understood as a basis. Bearing this in mind, the cleanliness was of a good standard. Local amenities: The Farm, and the cottage are part of a small community, which has few facilities, Caherdaniel is a couple of Ks one way, and has an excellent pub, The Blind Piper, which serves excellent food, gluten-free is accommodated, and like many Irish pubs, has live music on specified nights. Waterville, of Charlie Chaplin fame is about 10 Ks the other way, and has quite a few shops, including Supervalue, a Tescos like establishment, which also provides well for gluten-free. Value for money: There are other places which are bigger, cheaper, and more modern, but the atmosphere of the place is something that money cannot buy. Michael is an excellent host, and is full of suggestions. You don't find this anywhere else, this is why I judge the value for money to be excellent.

To call Johannah's Cottage a perfect and enchanting getaway would be an understatement. Having stayed here two weeks, I was more than satisfied. The cottage itself is lovely, with just enough creature comfort to be cozy and manageable, but not too much where you miss out on its rustic, old-fashioned nature. While the cottage itself is wonderful, you'll hardly be spending any time inside it (if you're doing it right) as the area is riddled with beautiful hiking trails. Situated on the slope of Cahernageeha, Johannah's Cottage is a short walk (and even shorter drive) from a myriad of natural wonders such as Derrynane Bay. Never have I encountered more breathtaking natural splendor. If you have a car (I did not) you're a hop skip and a jump from other County Kerry landmarks such as Waterville, Sneem, and Portmagee. Johannah's Cottage offers much to explore and experience, but is a perfect isolated oasis for home bodies as well. My holiday in Ireland was simply transformative, and Johannah's Cottage made it possible. A truly incredible holiday getaway.

We loved the quietness of the cottage and the location on the mountain. The owner was very friendly and, as busy as he was during lambing season, took the time to inform us about everything we needed to know. We spent a lovely week there.
