These beautiful cottages have been tastefully renovated from a traditional Welsh barn and are set in the heart of Pembrokeshire alongside the Llys-y-Fran Country Park and reservoir. There are plenty of facilities available for guests free of charge, including croquet and badminton, a heated covered swimming pool, all-weather tennis court and a children’s play garden. You can also enjoy the country park which is less than a minute’s walk and has a 200-acre reservoir and an impressive 100ft dam, the largest game fishing in west Wales. This is a beautiful woodland setting with a delightful nature trail for both walkers and cyclists, and an 8-mile perimeter trail providing fine views and a variety of wildlife including badgers, foxes and otters. The broadleaf woodland provides a breeding site for sparrowhawk, buzzard and woodpecker, whilst the lake attracts uncommon water bird species such as little gull and black tern. Set in the heart of Pembrokeshire, giving access to beaches, national park, the historic Preseli Mountains and the worlds famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Coastal Path. Within a short drive is Oakwood Theme Park. A holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be complete without a visit to the picturesque harbour and the golden beaches at Tenby or the busy resort of Saundersfoot, a complete contrast from the more secluded parts perhaps, but always popular with children. Also within a short drive are Manor House Wildlife Park, Caldey Island, with its cistercian monastery and countless historic castles such as Carew, and Pembroke. It is an ideal location for a perfect family holiday as a getaway or for trying some of the outdoor pursuits and entertainment. Pembrokeshire is famous for its excellent restaurants and pubs. In the immediate vicinity there is the country park restaurant and two pubs serving food in the village of Clarbeston Road (3 miles). Golf and horse riding are within 5 miles.

Somewhat difficult approach via a maze of confusing lanes but once found the cottage was lovely and the proprietors were helpful and friendly. It would have been nice to have a brochure or something to explain the locality but we had no complaints. Llys y Fran has a lot to offer. It is roughly equidistant to many of Pembrokeshires beauty spots and places of interest. There are no shops nearby so you need to stock up with food before arriving.

The hosts were welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. A great cottage - well appointed, comfortable, clean bathroom with decent bath/shower, kitchen had most things needed including big fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, log burner ready to go with plenty of wood, decent Internet, Freeview TV and comfortable sofa area. Highly recommended, although nearest pubs disappointing and no local access to shops or "takeaway" food - so take your own food and drink and stack out the fridge!

We had a great holiday staying at Stable Cottage. The owners were very welcoming and the property was perfect for two adults and two children (they do have a number of cottages of different sizes if your needs are different). We especially loved the swimming pool and the fact we could book hour long slots to have it to ourselves (I know this was a COVID measure but I hope they keep the booking system). Also the direct access to the lake park next to the cottages was a great feature and we had a few nice evenings with the children playing in the play area as the sun went down or walking down to the lake edge after everyone else had left the park. The location is not ideal if you want to be close to the beach or a town but it is only 30-35mins from the south, west and north coasts which gives you lots to do not far away. We are already considering going back next year as a week wasn't long enough to do and see everything we wanted to.
