We have stayed in the local area before and enjoy the solitude and peace. Lucky to have beautiful weather on both occasions. Cottage itself is more spacious that where we stayed before but it feels a bit tired. The furniture is a mixture of old and modern - perhaps a work in progress? Our host was very helpful and we definitely enjoyed the week - enough to stay an extra day, but we would prefer a more modern property. The only reason we would not stay again is because we have probably exhausted the local area and what it has to offer, and we found the lack of local places to dine a bit trying.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m sorry this guest hasn’t understood the furnishings. Great care was taken on choosing pieces for the house, and a mix of well restored antique furniture and modern furniture was chosen. The house is a mid-century 1950s bungalow, so we have various mid-century modern pieces in there, like a G-Plan table, Eames chairs, various Ercol pieces, all specific to the 1950s era, we didn’t want it to be a retro house however, so there are various modern pieces also, including a very modern kitchen with all mod cons, and some earlier well restored pieces. I am an award winning designer and have created a specific look. I’m sorry it’s gone over the head of this guest; we usually get lovely compliments as our house is so thoughtfully and well decorated. Obviously it’s not going to be to everybody’s taste. Please see photos for confirmation. Rural Scotland is not well known for its restaurants, although there are a few dotted around, the nearest is 20 minutes’ walk down the beach, or 2 minutes’ drive. There are various options in Campbeltown and Tarbert, and my favourite - The Boathouse, on Gigha - which has a mention in the Michelin Guide.

The view of the sunsets through the cottage's big picture window are marvellous. The sea is very close and a pleasant sized beach is accessible half a mile down the road. Five miles further on is a much bigger beach with big rollers. Campbeltown is where to get supplies but a GPS is most useful in finding the stores.

Beautiful house and views, just a pity there's no pavement and walking to the beach is extremely difficult, especially with children.
