Inkwell Cottage is stunning, beautifully decorated with lots of lovely features and history. it's a lot bigger than it looks on the pictures and the garden is huge and very pretty with great views. the village is very small, very quiet and about 15-20 minutes away from Keswick or Cockermouth, perfect for us. I knew before we went there were no local shops so I took a few basics and would recommend doing an Asda shop on line to be delivered to the cottage, they where great! The welcome pack of wine and chocolates was a nice touch and also coffee capsules to use in the machine. There was already dish cloths, washing up liquid, bin bags, tea towels and dishwasher tablets there. There is a pub a mile away called The Greyhound Inn, we had a meal when we arrived. Very good food and a small area for kids ( our daughters are 9 and 12 ) with a pool table, games etc. We visisted Keswick market ( Saturdays only ) Cockermouth, Whinlatter Pass ( great for kids ) Dodds Wood, Castle Cragg ( really pretty river with stepping stones ) Honista Slate Mines and The Wave in Maryport so the kids could do clip and climb! A great week in The Lakes. We go to The Lakes every year and this was my favourite cottage and location so far!
