This is a lovely cottage in a small village. There's no shops in the village and the nearest pub is about a mile away. The closest town is around a 15 minutes drive and has plenty of shops and takeaways. The cottage is a lot bigger than it looks on the pictures and has a massive garden which gets the sun all day and is great for children. Good size for 2 families although the second master is on the top floor and doesn't have bathroom. The kitchen is really well equipped with great washer and dryer. We spent the evenings relaxing on the patio and lit the outside wood burner when it went cool. We even saw a couple of shooting stars!

Property let down by issues also raised by others last year. Shower room drain obviously choked (mentioned previously in comments book) and had to clear it myself. Light not working also in that room. No welcome pack, nor usual condiments or milk. Frying pans next to useless, continually sticking. Some pans still greasy. Induction cooker not an easy method of cooking with some pans not happy with surface contact allowing heat transfer. Very dangerous metal spiked rods (6 - 8 of them) at edge of overgrown border holding back grass cuttings heap in back garden - so easy for a child to run into or onto them. We put plastic bottles over the tops to make them less of a risk. No electric power on one day from 9.00am until afternoon. Apparently it was planned, but no warning message of this left out for us to be aware and plan for for showers and breakfast. Window venetian blinds have high adjustment rods than can only be adjusted standing on a chair and reaching up. A nice house of character and fittings, but a good 'hoover' and cleaner seat joints (bits of food and dust) would make a difference. Property is in a quiet location and you have to travel a bit to get to other places, but not really a problem otherwise. In summing up, we have been there, seen it and do not need to return.

Very spacious, beautifully presented cottage with lots of character and ample space both inside and out. Extremely large, well-maintained garden. Plenty of private parking within the grounds of the cottage, bike shed, outdoor patio etc. An excellent base for a family holiday or for up to 3 couples. Located slightly north of the lakes, but not a problem if you like driving through beautiful landscape first, before getting to the starting point of your walk. We have stayed at Inkwell Cottage twice within 8 months and are already checking our diaries for our next visit, perhaps in the autumn.

A very spacious, well-equipped and well-maintained cottage with lots of character. Plenty of outdoor space, with off-road parking for several cars, a bike shed if you like cycling, a patio area where you can have a barbecue and a huge garden - perfect for a family holiday or a holiday with friends. Three large comfortably furnished double bedrooms (the upstairs bedroom is truly lovely!!) + two bathrooms -- one really couldn't ask for more. The kitchen (+ utility room) is spacious and well-equipped. The cottage is located north of the lake district and to get to the lakes it's a bit of a drive, but we did not mind at all. We can recommend this cottage to anyone and we would love to come back another time.
