Although not at the seaside and quite a residential area, it's a very good base for a holiday in the South Hams - most of the main beaches are within a few miles by car and the amenities in Malborough village (Co-op, two pubs, park, play and gym areas, etc) are in five minutes walk. It's a very homely place - like the owners maybe live there outside season - with all amenities within the cottage. They're quite keen on signage within the property but we found that quite useful. All in all, we had a pretty good time and it was much better staying there than in Salcombe itself - pretty full-up with holidaymakers and felt congested.

The place was comfortable and a good base for the week. I think the place itself needs to be redecorated as it does feel as though it hasn't been updated for 20 years and needs to reflect that it is holiday accommodation, rather than just someone's house that is being let for a week. Also the hedge at the back needs to be cut down as this would allow a nice view. As it is, it is just obscuring what could be nice. Overall it is nice and comfortable but needs an update and a little care and attention.

Hydrangeas is a lovely, well equipped bungalow. It is an ideal base for exploring South Hamms. There is a local Co-op and petrol station at the top of the road. There are two pubs in the village but one was closed for renovation. The other one wasn't open at lunchtime when we wanted to eat there. The only other night we went there it was crowded for a music event so we didn't stop. Parking is a problem and the garage is useful.
