Peacefully located overlooking fields and standing on the edge of Hurn Forest, this delightful and welcoming, detached, single-storey home makes an ideal bolt hole for couples looking to explore this lovely area, and has footpaths leading from the door. Its open plan living/kitchen area opens onto a large, enclosed patio garden with bistro table offering a relaxing outlook over fields where ponies graze – the ideal spot to enjoy an aperitif or al fresco dining! The double bedroom has a large walk-in wardrobe and a small sectioned area with a desk. There are also many thoughtfully added touches, such as USB sockets, skylights for additional natural light, family games, books, and even toiletries. Across the lane is a public footpath, ideal for walks, and the friendly owners live adjacent and welcome a well behaved dog (they have two small dogs who are very sociable!).
There is so much to do in this area: Ringwood is nearby, and within easy driving distance are beaches (the closest being only 8 miles at Bournemouth or Poole) and also Sandbanks and Studland Bay. Poole Nature Reserve, Brownsea Island, and to the west, The Purbecks, Corfe Castle and the Jurassic Coastline are all worth a visit. Moors Valley is a popular place to visit and is dog friendly - as well as scenic walks and excellent wildlife spotting, there is a host of recreational activities. Avon Heath nearby for keen walkers, and there are various fishing lakes (mainly carp) and golf courses in the area. The New Forest National Park is easily accessible, as is the charming town of Fordingbridge which has a host of shops, cafés and eateries, as well as the gently flowing River Avon. Visit the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, or Christchurch Harbour and Stonehenge. Other attractions include Marwell Zoo, Monkey World, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bovington Tank Museum, and the New Forest Wildlife Park. Beach 8 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Hurn Forest Retreat is in a great location, quiet and peaceful with lovely views across fields, even though it is close to the A31. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Due to the property having a breakfast bar with stools and no table for eating we found the kitchen area to be rather cramped without enough space for preparing food. The rest of the accommodation is very comfortable and there is a large patio with outdoor seating available.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was a wonderful stay. The cottage is beautiful, it has everything you need and the surroundings are magnificent. At the edge of the forest, so quiet and relaxing. Judi and Nigel are wonderful hosts, they will accommodate any request and are very kind and friendly people. We took our Newfoundland dog along on our stay, she also loved the house. There were some very nice touches, like water and food bowls for the dog and also a lovely welcome basket, filled with essentials and goodies. Would definitely recommend and go there again!

Fantastic four days at Hurn forest retreat. Comfortable cottage with everything you need in very beautiful surroundings. Welcome pack was great although I couldn’t eat any as I am coeliac but my husband enjoyed it very much as his waistband has now grown an inch! I particularly want to thank Naomi, she couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, but I must admit to being a little bit in love with her dog Ollie, he is beautiful. Everything about this holiday was fantastic and that’s thanks to beautiful accommodation and lovely people managing it. Will be back when next in Dorset! Thanks again Naomi!
