The house retains many of its original Georgian features but provides easy living with a mix of period and contemporary furnishings. The principal rooms are on the middle floor so that the stunning views of the River Swale and gardens can be enjoyed. These consist of a drawing room with a baby grand piano, dining room, living room with wood burner and Smart TV, a kitchen/breakfast room with a two oven Aga, as well as the benefit of a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Venture upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find three wonderful bedrooms, one with a four-poster bed, TV and an en-suite bathroom, one kingsize bedroom and one super kingsize bedroom. There is also a family bathroom, complete with a roll top bath. On the ground floor you will find three more bedrooms, one of which is self-contained and has its own private entrance, kitchenette and en-suite shower room - it is a great space to retreat for peace and tranquillity and to soak up the beautiful views of the garden. The two further bedrooms include a kingsize room with an en-suite shower room and access to the bike store, and a bedroom with both a double and single bed. You can also make use of the large games room complete with a Smart TV and a selection of games.
Situated just a short, picturesque walk from the beautiful historic town of Richmond, dominated by an imposing Norman castle. It offers panoramic views, ancient alleys, museums, monuments, restaurants, markets and shops. Richmond is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and offers a perfect base to explore the treasures of the past. Discover the oldest Georgian theatre in England, Middleham Castle and Bolton Castle. There is a former Victorian railway station nearby, which is now a thriving hub of artisan bakers, brewers, restaurant, cinema, art gallery and sports facilities. Within an hours’ drive you can visit the medieval city of York, Harrogate, with its Royal baths, and Durham city, with its World Heritage cathedral. The Lake District is close by and has been awarded Unesco World Heritage Status for its outstanding beauty.
Plenty of walking and cycling opportunities can be enjoyed in all directions. Howe Villa is a short walk away from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the National Trust land Round Howe with its various walks is a stone’s throw from the house over the river.
There are many attractions nearby including Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, the popular city of York, and Hamsterley Forest with its mountain biking trails. Howe Villa is ideal for those seeking a comfortable and relaxing holiday and offers a perfect base for exploring all North Yorkshire. There are historic sites to visit at Rievaulx and Fountains Abbey, stately homes at Nunnington Hall, Castle Howard, and numerous quaint villages with traditional inns serving good food and local ales.
