Discover the stunning Lower Wye Valley whilst staying at this first floor apartment set within large shared grounds.

House Martins is a private apartment within Hunters Lodge, a property that occupies an elevated position in the heart of the Lower Wye Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The apartment is cosy and romantic, with a wood burner in the bedroom/living room and unsurpassed views from a large bay window. The grounds are fairly extensive, and guests have shared use of the garden and sitting-out areas, where there is plenty of space. Monmouth for great shopping, and Chepstow with its castle and horse racing, are within a 20-minute drive, and you can also enjoy water sports on the River Wye. Close by are Tintern Abbey, Newland Church (or the ‘Cathedral of the Forest’, as it is better known), Go Ape (a treetop adventure experience), Pedalabikeaway (an off-road cycle centre), Puzzlewood (an ancient woodland site) and Dean Forest Railway. There are some excellent places to eat and drink locally from cafés serving local produce to Mitchelin-starred restaurants. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

All on the first floor.

The apartment was in a wonderful position on top of a hill with amazing views. It was beautifully quiet with a dark night sky. The house martins provided endless entertainment, swooping and diving around the house. Rebecca, the owner was very welcoming and gave us some of her homemade apple juice and eggs from the chickens in the garden. Everything worked well and we had a great week with excellent walks. The rooms were spacious. The local history of the Forest of Dean was fascinating.
