The cottage was very comfortable and had all the amenities that we required - the cake and cookies awaiting us on arrival was particularly welcome. The small courtyyard garden was very pleasant with lavender and buddleia bushes. The location was also ideal being only 200 yards from the beach. Hythe itself is a lovely town and we would certainly pay a return visit at some time in the future.

Great accommodation even though it’s dog friendly. Sometimes accommodation is not as good if dogs are accepted but not the case at Hope Cottage. A credit to the owners, thank you.

Lovely comfortable cottage. Great base for exploring Kent! Plenty of storage, nice decor, cosy log burner, comfy beds and great shower. Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance and near the beach. Perfect. Would use again if we came back to the area.

OK, we went in February and we had a few dodgy weather days. When the sun shines a walk to Sandgate and Folkestone takes some beating. House was cosy, clean and comfortable. Plenty of walkable hostelrie. A great selection of DVDs, we watched the whole of “The Forsyth Saga”. Missed it the 1st time around. Tails off towards the end, but enjoyable anyway. Parking was good.

The only problem that appeared was that the garden was not 'dog proof'. We therefore had to keep the dogs on leads in the garden as there was a length of rush fencing where a building work was in progress next door and was in no way dog secure. My daughter has an old Labrador who did not intend to stray but I have a 17 month old Jack Russell who was more of a problem especially as she has the run of the garden at home.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that the temporary fence caused you a problem with your young Jack Russell. We have tried to make the temporary fencing as secure as possible and it is unless your dog is a digger or escape artist. We have two young terriers ourselves and they have not managed to get out. This is only a short term problem and as soon as our neighbours new garage is erected a secure barrier will be in place. We do hope that this didn't ruin your holiday.
