Why Us?

What we love

With one of the most admired views in Scotland over the Kyles of Bute, The Coach House offers an ideal family base.

Surrounded by 150 acres of glorious wooded grounds, abundant in wildlife. Amidst a glorious landscape of unspoilt wooded glens, fragmented coastline, stunning sea lochs and breathtaking bays, the delightful cottages at Home Farm nestle in the peaceful wooded valley of the River Ruel. The steading and cottages, formerly the home farm to the estate, have been lovingly restored and are very comfortably furnished in contemporary Scottish style. Their spacious courtyard setting affords each of them a sense of privacy and they all boast access to 150 acres of wooded grounds, abundant in bird and wildlife, with free trout and salmon fishing on the Ruel beat owned by Home Farms - the fishing hut provides an ideal picnic spot. One of the most admired views in Scotland, The Kyles of Bute, awaits discovery just 6 miles away, as do the tranquil village of Tighnabruaich’s lovely natural bays, sandy beach, shops, restaurants and 9 hole golf course. Colintraive, 9 miles, offers a pub serving good food and there is a summer shop (limited opening hours) adjacent to Home Farm. Beach 5 miles. Shop 13 miles, pub and restaurant 7 miles.

Just back from an amazing few days at ‘The Coach House’. This stunning property was a treat to stay in. Very clean and beautifully decorated, the kitchen also came stocked with a good amount of basics for cooking and every single cooking implement you could ever need! The house is set in beautiful countryside with lots of walks around. It is quite a distance from the nearest shop though, that was the only drawback for us. I would definitely return again and 100% recommended it to anyone thinking of staying here.

Great cottage, very comfortable and spacious. Lovely to light the wood burner after rainy walks in Argyll Forest Park. Quite far to nearby shops. The Inver Restaurant about 25 mins drive away is a must!

Absolutely stunning cottage, very spacious, spotless and everthing you require and more. Could not fault it in anyway and the kitchen was a pleasure to prepare food in. We would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a luxurious property in a lovely tranquil area looking for peace and quiet.

This cottage was delightful, really clean with an amazingly well stocked kitchen which made us want to stay in and cook most nights rather than eat out. Gorgeous living room and spacious bedrooms. Our children loved the outdoor chess board and games room. There were some lovely walks from the doorstep and a playground about 2 miles away. This made a perfect base for exploring Argyll. We loved it.

Great base for a week in Scotland. The cottage is modern, tastefully decorated, and has one of the best kitchens I've had in a rental. Soon after arrival the caretaker Neil visited us.(Lives on the site I believe) Kindly loaned me an OS map for the area as I'd booked last minute and wanted to check out the trails and tracks nearby. There are a number of properties for rent on the site and if you had a few families or a company getaway I believe it would be ideal for that. We had a table that'd seat 10 and a kitchen that would cater for more. A group staying could collectively socialise together with a number of cottages overlooking the courtyard. The bed was comfortable, the TV was big (Scottish rentals frequently have a 14 inch portable from the 70's!). You don't visit for the TV but it made for relaxing after a walk. (Basic sky package but at our rental time we had the full Sky Sports package too) Wifi Internet access is reasonable but don't expect to be streaming anything like off Netflix. (This was explained in the description) The location was very quiet and rural. Two negatives which shouldn't stop you booking in any way. 1. There are few local amenities, or shops for food so to avoid any long drives you'd be advised to bring a lot of your own supplies. 2. I think someone has already commented on the big American style fridge. It seems to be working overtime to stay cold and the noise it makes at very very regular intervals could be irritating if we didn't have the TV masking the sound. (Otherwise it was perfect for all our supplies and beer & wine!) Overall a perfect week and we'd be looking out for this site again if we're ever back in this area. Much recommended!

We loved every minute of our stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated with quality furnishings and is very well thought out with everything you require for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The cottage was immaculately clean and the caretaker was very helpful and friendly. The area is stunning and perfect for a get away from it all holiday.
