What we love

Description

This lovingly restored holiday cottage, is set amongst breathtaking scenery and complete tranquility.

Surrounded by 150 acres of glorious wooded grounds, abundant in wildlife. Amidst a glorious landscape of unspoilt wooded glens, fragmented coastline, stunning sea lochs and breathtaking bays, the delightful cottages at Home Farm nestle in the peaceful wooded valley of the River Ruel. The steading and cottages, formerly the home farm to the estate, have been lovingly restored and are very comfortably furnished in contemporary Scottish style. Their spacious courtyard setting affords each of them a sense of privacy and they all boast access to 150 acres of wooded grounds, abundant in bird and wildlife, with free trout and salmon fishing on the Ruel beat owned by Home Farms - the fishing hut provides an ideal picnic spot. One of the most admired views in Scotland, The Kyles of Bute, awaits discovery just 6 miles away, as do the tranquil village of Tighnabruaich’s lovely natural bays, sandy beach, shops, restaurants and 9 hole golf course. Colintraive, 9 miles, offers a pub serving good food and there is a summer shop (limited opening hours) adjacent to Home Farm. Beach 5 miles. Shop 13 miles, pub and restaurant 7 miles.

Such a stunning location, with all the peace and quiet to make you’re week so relaxing. We go back time and again, already booked for next summer! Can’t praise it enough!

We enjoyed our stay at Home Farm Cottage immensely; although tall folks have to be a bit wary of the sloping bedroom ceilings, our only real criticism was that the cooker hood appeared to have been installed by a malicious dwarf: we both banged our heads on it countless times, located as it is above the only main work surface. Otherwise, the cottage is comfortable and well-equipped, with the unusual delight of a lovely conservatory which made sitting in the long, light evenings a real pleasure. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous and there's a superb restaurant half an hour's drive away, 'Inver', by Old Castle Lachlan.

We had a fabulous stay at Home Farm Cottage. It was a great break and a lovely opportunity to have some R and R. Comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen and the conservatory was a lovely place to sit and read and relax. It is remote from most villages which suited us but does mean that you need to drive fairly significant distances to get anywhere. We didn’t end up using the games room but it looked great as well.

Had the most amazing stay and will definitely return. Such a good place to explore what is an absolutely stunning region. Can’t wait for the next visit! Neither can our dog - who loved the safe and enclosed garden.

Another great stay in what has to be our favourite area and cottages. This was the first time we have stayed in this particular cottage. The decoration and layout was superb as always. We did however, think that it was a lot darker inside downstairs than our previous rentals. Due in part to there being only one window in the living room and one in the kitchen. We did request that the other beds, 2 singles be zipped together to make another double. When we got there however we found that they had left it as 2 singles. Which did disappoint us. We would still recommend staying here to anyone.
