Situated on the Isle of Cumbrae, this quirky, detached wooden cottage simply oozes charm. Adjacent to the owner’s home, it lies just a 5-minute walk from the shoreline and the sandy beach, which has tropical palms fronting the promenade, and yachts moored out in the sheltered bay. Millport itself offers cafés, shops, bars and a bistro, and is home to Europe’s smallest cathedral and the narrowest house in the UK. The Isle of Cumbrae offers a truly relaxing escape, and is hugely popular with cyclists and walkers, yet is only a short ferry crossing from Largs on the Ayrshire coast. A haven for wildlife, the island attracts migrant birds from around the world, and the flora is equally varied; a visit to the island’s marine research station, with its museum and aquarium, is a must. There is a watersports centre on the island, with various courses available including kayaking and canoeing. The main Newton Bay offers sheltered anchorages and moorings. Beach 200 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Lovely cottage in very quiet location. Having your own secure garden for the dogs was brilliant, and June the host couldn't have been more helpful. Very relaxing holiday

Very clean, comfortable and cosy. The cottage was perfect for my dog and me. Kitchen was thoroughly fitted out with everything that could be needed. Great shower-room, toilet; very comfortable bed. Bedrooms on first floor. Close enough to town for walking about; close to walks in local forestry, and the Cathedral of the Isles just a stone's throw away. Dedicated parking space, off-road for guest. The cottage has its own separate garden and picnic area, which made it easy to let the dog out, day or night for his essential business. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I marked the local amenities down only because I was there off-season, which was my choice.
