Port William, known as the ’Machars of Galloway’ is a small village on this beautiful coastline of Dumfries and Galloway and has a village shop and restaurant/café. Whilst exploring the village see if you can spot ’The Man’ for a great photo opportunity. The area boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches, a short drive will take you to Monreith Beach, a beautiful long sandy beach backed by cliffs and perfect for swimming or fishing. Surrounded by breath-taking scenery explore the area where there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including the world-renowned Logan Botanical Gardens with its many exotic plants and trees.
Take a drive along the coast and visit the many quaint little villages such as Sandhead, Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn. A visit to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point and home to the RSPB nature reserve, where thousands of seabirds nest on the cliff face during spring and summer is a must and on a fine day the views are simply stunning. With miles of quiet country roads, the area is perfect for cycling and if golfing is your thing, 3 miles or so along the road is St Medans, a family friendly 9-hole course on the shores of Luce Bay with some of the most amazing views of any golf course.
