This cosy, peaceful holiday property is ideal for a couple who wish to discover Roman forts or just touring Northumberland, with lovely views from the outside decking area. Located close to the Northumberland National Park, just a stone’s throw from Hadrian’s Wall with the site of Vindolanda, 1 mile, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland, and the Lake District which is just an hour away. Golf, fishing and horse riding available nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

We really enjoyed our short break here in Hill House Hideaway, just before the heavy snowfall . The central heating keeps the cottage toasty and the wood burning stove is a lovely bonus. The proximity to the dark sky area meant we had a brilliant view of the heavens. The clear nights while we were there let the stars reveal themselves in all their glory. The cottage is bigger than it appears on the photos and so much thought has been put in to ensure that everything the holiday maker could require has been provided, even silicone tongs for getting toast out of the toaster to prevent burnt fingers! Also some yummy homemade bread rolls were a welcome treat. Very close to the Roman Wall with lots of enjoyable local walks. Beautiful views down into the valley from the cottage. Thanks to Maurice and Anne for their warm welcome and attention.

Lovely property, pretty views across the fields in the morning. Just about walkable to the Twice Brewed Inn and close to Vindolanda and Haltwhistle. Very clean and cosy inside.

From the outside it looks like a standard garage but once inside it's like the Tardus. Our host was there to greet us with essentials such as homemade bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee etc. The cottage was very well equipped, nothing but the best of crockery, cutlery pans etc. it lacked nothing and everything was of a very high standard. Maurice and Anne are extremely friendly and although we lacked for nothing I got the feeling that they would sort out any problems immediately. Great stay.
