The house is surrounded by excellent walking and cycling country, with historic castles, pony trekking, fishing and golf in the area. The location of the property is ideal; it’s just a short, scenic drive to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Ideally placed for exploring the delights of both National Parks, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teasdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes, all within a 40-minute drive from the property, also the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway nearby.
Brough has a fish and chip shop, along with a shop, pub and restaurant within 200 yards. The traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen is four miles away and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.
