Description

Higher Scarcliffe has wow factor views and makes a beautiful base for discovering all this wonderful area of Yorkshire has to offer.

Nestled high above the Broughton Hall Estate, encompassed by 3000-acre shared grounds, there’s no better place for a rural retreat. Accessed by a single track, partly gravelled road, feel a part of the history in this 17th-century detached farmhouse. Thoughtfully renovated with your comfort in mind, yet still retaining many of its original features, Higher Scarcliffe boasts traditional décor with contemporary flourishes.
You will be sure to fall in love with this luxurious home from the moment you step foot through the door. Wooden beams adorn the vaulted ceiling in the main living room, making it bright, light and full of elegance. Sink into one of the sumptuous sofas as you warm your toes in front of the glowing wood burner, enhanced by the grand stone fireplace. Admire the view over the garden and surrounding Yorkshire Dales through the picture window as you relax in an aura of peace and tranquillity. Your little ones will love the galleried seating area, accessed by turning stairs, making the perfect hideaway.
If you don’t want to miss out on your favourite shows take a seat in the second living area and turn on the 32” Sky TV, with full Sky package. This social space also benefits from a cosy wood burner, so you can stay toasty and warm no matter where you spend you evening. As the day draws to a close, venture up the turning staircase to the first floor where 3 beamed bedrooms with zip and link beds, one with en-suite facilities, await you.
If you’re early to rise, why not head downstairs and rustle up something tasty for breakfast in the farmhouse style kitchen, complete with an electric range cooker. Enjoy your breakfast al fresco out on the patio by the warmth of the chiminea, ideal for those cool winter mornings. Plan the day’s adventures whilst soaking in the picturesque landscape of the Yorkshire Dales that surrounds you. Fabulous Yorkshire Long Barn in a stunning location. Amazing views from every window. Loved the vaulted ceiling in the main living area, the huge fireplaces, the thickness of the walls, the mezzanine den area, the cosy snug, the fabulous dining table with views over the Dales, the farmhouse kitchen where everyone loved washing up as they looked out at the view from the window. Dog friendly too, our little pooch loved the space to run around inside and outside. Milk and wine in the fridge and a little gift of cake on the table were lovely touches too. Can’t fault this place, we had a fantastic week, with various family members coming to visit and the space to accommodate everyone.

Lovely cottage which was situated in a great place however it wasn’t within a mile walking distance to the local pub. The beds were very comfy. We would recommend putting chicken mesh at the bottom of the gates so dogs could be let lose in the garden, and not to have to worry about the sheep. Also sharper knives and more utensils such as potato masher and wooden spoons. Overall fab place and would love to go back.

We had a wonderful stay at Higher Scarcliffe! The view has to be seen to be believed. We loved the peace and quiet, and found the comfort and equipment to be exactly what we needed. It was more like staying in a private home than a holiday property with all the lovely artwork and furnishings. The only thing that could be improved was the communication re the keycode for entry - we made a very last minute booking and found it tricky on the weekend to get hold of people.
