Higher Scarcliffe has wow factor views and makes a beautiful base for discovering all this wonderful area of Yorkshire has to offer.

As you climb out of Carleton village along the single track road (the last 50 yards are gravel) which takes you to the gravel parking area at Higher Scarcliffe, your eyes will be glued to the magnificent views over the Broughton Hall Estate and beyond to the Yorkshire Dales. Situated high above the estate and a mile from the village of Carleton you will feel worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of the thriving market town of Skipton just 3 miles away.

Meander down the sloping gravel path to this wonderful 17th-century detached farmhouse which has been transformed into a great base for a family holiday, or group of friends, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. On entering the house you know you’ll never want to leave. A stunning living area, complete with a galleried seating area children will love, will take your breath away with its huge stone fireplace and high vaulted ceiling. Three comfortable double bedrooms on the first floor provide ample rest space for everyone.

As you pass through the rooms of Higher Scarcliffe you won’t be able to resist stealing another peek at the outstanding views. Relax on the bench on the patio and savour the views, breathe in the fresh Yorkshire air and the peace, tranquillity and birdsong here. If you can tear yourself away, you won’t be short of things to do from Land Rover Experience Days available on site (by direct arrangement with the owner), or wander the extensive grounds and discover bridges over the river. You’ll also find a cycle track and lots of birds and wildlife.

If you want to get out and about, the A59 can be reached within 1 mile giving easay access to Skipton where all amenities can be found from supermarkets and a train station to a leisure centre, trendy bars and canal boat trips. Children will love the play area and Billy Bob’s Parlour at the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm just a few miles away, then continue to Grassington with its individual shops and tea rooms, or Bolton Abbey for a relaxing afternoon and woodland walks by the River Wharfe. Shops and restaurants 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

This house has the loveliest atmosphere and is so toasty and warm. The walks around the estate are beautiful and we were made extremely welcome by everyone we met. highly recommend this house and the Estate.

Lovely cottage which was situated in a great place however it wasn’t within a mile walking distance to the local pub. The beds were very comfy. We would recommend putting chicken mesh at the bottom of the gates so dogs could be let lose in the garden, and not to have to worry about the sheep. Also sharper knives and more utensils such as potato masher and wooden spoons. Overall fab place and would love to go back.

We had a wonderful stay at Higher Scarcliffe! The view has to be seen to be believed. We loved the peace and quiet, and found the comfort and equipment to be exactly what we needed. It was more like staying in a private home than a holiday property with all the lovely artwork and furnishings. The only thing that could be improved was the communication re the keycode for entry - we made a very last minute booking and found it tricky on the weekend to get hold of people.
