Description

This property has everything you could wish for in a holiday home; garden with BBQ, piano, pool table and plenty to explore nearby!

Capture the essence of country life in the south of England with this stunning 17th century converted barn that’s tucked away in a sleepy hamlet on the Somerset/Dorset border.

Where to begin? This stunning 17th century barn conversion leaves very little to be desired. Elegantly furnished with fine décor throughout, there’s a real homely ambience emanating from every room. The kitchen comes fully equipped with all necessary appliances, and its farmhouse style is complemented by wooden surfaces and slate flooring. Make the most of the warm weather with an al fresco breakfast out in the sun. The table tennis and pool table in the games room are sure to keep your cheeky little monkeys busy, leaving your afternoons totally carefree. The living room also reflects the barn’s 300-year-old history. Incorporating a traditional design with a few modern touches, the room boasts indoor brickwork, comfy furniture, a wood-burning stove, fine pictures adorning the walls and overhead wooden beams, that make the room perfect for reconnecting with your loved ones. It’s this seamless blend of style and comfort, old with new, which makes Higher Farm Barn stand out as a truly special property. Why not have a tinkle on the old Joanna, gather round for a sing song?

Sure enough, there’s something for all manner of holiday goers. Children are sure to get a kick out of Longleat House and Safari Park, and the Haynes Motor Museum and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum won’t leave motor heads disappointed. There are a number of historic houses to explore, such as Montacute, Barrington Court and Forde Abbey and Gardens to name a few. Explore the legend of King Arthur around Glastonbury Tor, or head to a spa in Bath for some much-needed relaxation.
An English holiday wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the seaside, and the stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast features a range of compelling terrain, from tranquil shingle and sandy beaches, to jagged cliff edges above crashing waves. Keep your eyes peeled around West Bay, which is a renowned fossil-finding hotspot.

What a lovely stay! The barn was ideal for a family gathering. The children loved the ping pong and pool table, the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge with the wood burner was perfect to relax in. Lovely location in peaceful countryside. Warm, cozy and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

A lovely converted barn. We loved the well equipped games room that kept the three generations of the family happy. We enjoyed staying in the lovely rural location and found it handy to have the small shops in Milborne Port just a short drive away. One day we walked there from the Barn. On the first day some of the guests found it difficult finding the Barn so it would have helped to have a signpost in the middle of Milborne Wick to show which road to take. Also it would be helpful to have the name of the Barn on the side of the road at the top of the driveway. We had a very enjoyable stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Higher Farm Barn. The property was immaculately presented and amenities were great - games, pool table, garden badminton etc. The only potential downside for visitors is that the barn is remote so you have to drive everywhere as there are no shops/pubs etc in walking distance. But I would definitely recommend to those seeking a peaceful rural retreat.
