Enjoying outstanding views down the valley, this detached holiday property, owned by the National Trust, stands on the east slopes of Bransdale. It is completely isolated with 360° panoramic views across rugged moorland. Situated on a working sheep farm, this 18th-century farmhouse, approached by a steep gated farm track, is full of charm with low-beamed ceilings and a cosy wood-burning stove, offering a totally relaxing retreat. This is a great spot for walking, as well as exploring the North Yorkshire Moors and the coast. Fadmoor and Gillamoor offer traditional village inns serving food, whilst the bustling market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley boast delightful shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Pickering, 16 miles, is famous for its medieval castle, Beck Isle Museum and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Visitors can board the steam train and be transported through the beautiful countryside to the fishing port of Whitby. There are miles of sandy beaches along the coastline and fascinating coves at Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes. Dalby Forest has numerous cycling and walking trails to suit all abilities, as well as Go Ape for the more adventurous. Visit Rievaulx Abbey and National Trust’s Nunnington Hall. Take a day trip to the historic walled city of York, with plenty of attractions for all ages and great shopping facilities. Shop 9 miles, pub and restaurant 6 miles.
