It is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the area is renowned for its wonderful scenery and coastal paths, attracting wild life enthusiasts and bird watchers from around the world. Take the dramatic scenic coastal road from nearby Pendeen to St Ives passing heather clad moorlands and the remains of the engine houses, dotted on the landscape. Alternatively, you can take the coastal train from St Erth to St Ives which passes some of the area’s most beautiful beaches. St Ives is also the home of the Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. The nearby village of St Buryan has a shop/post office, pub and beautiful, late 15th-century church. We loved our 2-week stay in Hendra. A lovely, nice and pleasant cottage. The kids loved to play outside and also inside a lot of place, good bedrooms and beautiful large kitchen. Location is ideal for exploring Cornwall, beaches and other nice places.

This is a warm, cosy, peaceful and immaculately clean cottage that has everything you need, and more. The pictures don't do it justice, it is just lovely inside. You are a few minutes drive from the village with a friendly pub and well stocked shop. The only negatives were that we would have liked a tumble dryer, though putting the airer next to the aga did a great job of drying clothes, and that the village was an easier walk, but apart from that, perfect!

Had a lovely stay at Hendra in March 2018. The owners made us feel very welcome and even had fresh scones available for us on arrival. They were very helpful too with information about walking routes. The cottage itself was very cosy and comfortable with lovely rooms, a well equipped and spacious kitchen and a useful utility room for storing muddy wellies after a long day of walking! The local store and pub are about a half an hour walk away and there's not much else that is within an easy walk so it's definitely worth considering hiring a car but taxis are available and there's a bus route nearby.

A really lovely cottage to stay in; very quiet and warm and comfortable and extremely well equipped. Hosts really lovely and unobtrusive but ready to help if there is any problem. Flowers and a homemade cake or cream tea and milk in the fridge made a lovely welcome. We have stayed at Hendra twice and will return again.

This is the worst stay i have ever had with my family. Whilst the week was great in terms of Cornwall we had great weather and there is plenty of places to stay! Be very wary of these owners! We stayed for our week and had a pleasant stay . You do get what you pay for so don't expect the Ritz. Take your own bedlinen and towels because you don't get enough. There is a washing machine so in good weather you can dry on the line. There were few other niggles but didn't effect my stay. Whilst we were away we had an incident with a frying pan, where we needed to throw it away, we accepted we forgot to tell the owners as it happened earlier in the week and they work so they aren't always avaliable . My husband only saw the owner briefly whilst he was packing the car and it has just slipped his mind since we were juggling children and packing and was a mistake on our part . We received an email less than 24 hours of leaving accusing us of damaging a kitchen side, breaking glasses ,and leaving the cottage in such a state it required an extra 5 hours cleaning time , suggesting 11 hours in total . This is not the case we left the cottage tidy and even hovered before we left ( sand is inevitable ) we emptied all the bins and gave it a very quick dust around since I was on holiday I was not going to give it a deep clean as the owner would clearly like . The owner is adamant we have done the damage to the kitchen side and we haven't. We did take out insurance with holiday company and would absolutely have used it if we had done anything! This is clearly an oversight on their part from a previous stay. They sent us a bill for well over 400.00 in which will not be paying. I have requested a week a go a receipt for the pan as we accept this was our fault and we had always intended on replacing it. We're yet to receive this. The owners have highlighted the other niggles and have said they will be resolved. Overall what was a pleasant stay has been absolutely ruined. We would have not returned before these accusations and we certainly won't now. If you do decide to book. Take pictures of before and after your stay.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner: We are very disappointed to have received this review, especially since this is the first low scoring review we have had since letting. All other reviews published over the last 2 years have been extremely positive and complimentary; which is indicative of our desire for all of our guests to have the best possible experience in Hendra. After seeking advice from the booking agent, though we remain reluctant to charge guests, this was a severe case where we required recompense because of the damage sustained and the additional cleaning required; we did provide the guest with proof of the damage and supplied the necessary invoices. No such request would have been made if we were unsure as to which guest was responsible for the damage. We have no expectation of guests to do a thorough clean after departure, but in accordance with the booking terms and conditions, the property is supposed to be left in a similar state as it was upon arrival. Our wish is to continue maintaining our high standards of quality and furnishings and for all future guests to get the most enjoyment out of their stay, which is why on this occasion, we sought recompense for the damage caused.

Thank you, we had a lovely holiday. The cottage was spacious, clean and with everything we could need. A real home from home. Lovely suprise of a very large Victoria sponge on our arrival. We enjoyed seeing the cows every morning. Ideal location to explore the tip of Cornwall.

Hen dra is a lovely cottage, one of only a few that have felt comfortable for the whole of a 2 week stay. It was spacious, warm and dry (no signs of any dampness that you sometimes get in older properties) and well-equipped. The range in the kitchen was great for those colder days and drying laundry when it rained! The location was great for exploring West Cornwall, and the owners very friendly and helpful. We did experience a couple of minor problems which couldn't have been foreseen (a pipe in the bathroom started to leak and the catch on the door got stuck) and they sorted these out efficiently and immediately. Although the cottage was very well equipped our only suggestions would be to have a few more mugs.
