There are many places of interest, the Castle and Gardens of Mey are open to the public from May through to September; the property was owned by the Queen’s mother and still welcomes royal visitors. There is a selection of distilleries in the area definitely worth a visit including Wolfburn, North Point, Dunnet Bay and Rock Rose Gin.
John o’ Groats is the most northerly point of the British Isles on a clear day you can see across to the Orkney Islands. You can take a day trip to Orkney from Gills Bay and experience another part of Scotland. Once you have experienced the local area you may take a trip on part of the North Coast 500.
