There is a storage facility at the rear which has a supply of logs for the wood burner and an area for bicycles and fishing rods. The garden is enclosed so perfect for your four legged friends. Entering through the rear door, there is a bright hall with storage for coats and footwear. The utility is off this hall with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The modern family bathroom is on this side of the property with a shower over the bath. From the hall, you are taken into the modern fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining room. The living room is located in the centre of the property with a leather sofa and chairs, a wood burner, reading material and board games. There are two spacious double bedrooms, both with kingsize beds.
Halkirk is only 7 miles from Thurso which offers a selection of local shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and bars. There is a wide choice of things to do golfing, fishing, water sports, and amazing walks with the most breathtaking scenery and amazing wildlife. There are many places of interest, the Castle and Gardens of Mey are open to the public from May through to September; the property was owned by the Queen’s mother and still welcomes royal visitors. There is a selection of distilleries in the area definitely worth a visit including Wolfburn, North Point, Dunnet Bay and Rock Rose Gin.
John o’ Groats is the most northerly point of the British Isles on a clear day you can see across to the Orkney Islands. You can take a day trip to Orkney from Gills Bay and experience another part of Scotland. Once you have experienced the local area you may take a trip on part of the North Coast 500. Heatherley Cottage is a beautiful property and will definitely not disappoint and is in the perfect location for exploring and experiencing what Caithness has to offer.
