Description

Set within the Norfolk Broads National Park and only 4 miles from the beach - ideal for families, and with its own bubbling hot tub.

Located in the village of Hickling, within walking distance of Hickling Broad, Heathcote Cottage is a stunning semi-detached cottage in the Norfolk Broads National Park. Heathcote has been lovingly renovated with a cosy living room, spacious kitchen/dining room and two bedrooms, accessed via separate staircases, one of which is a traditional winding Norfolk staircase. The property boasts a private hot tub where you can unwind in the evening, after a fun-filled day exploring the area.
A 5-minute walk brings you to Hickling Broad, the largest of the Norfolk Broads, particularly popular as a known haven for wildlife all year round. There are many trails and hidden corners, with boat tours available. Common cranes, bittern and marsh harriers can all been seen, as well as kingfishers. The swallowtail butterfly and the Norfolk hawker dragonfly are local specialities, and many people come just to see these two species. Close by you’ll find the Norfolk Coast, and Horsey Beach is just 4 miles away where you can see the incredible seal colony that make this stretch of beach their home during the winter months.

The city of Norwich, the only city in a National Park, is just 19 miles away and is filled with heritage and culture including the castle and two cathedrals. The popular coastal resorts of Sea Palling, 5 miles, and Cromer, 20 miles, provide fantastic opportunities to build sandcastles all along the North Norfolk Coast. Head 9 miles inland to seek out tree top adventures at BeWILDerwood, a great day out for all the family, then continue a couple of miles further to Wroxham, the capital of the Norfolk Broads, both easily accessible from Hickling. Shop and restaurant 400 yards, pub ½ mile.

Great holiday based at this lovely cottage. Quaint yet full of mod cons to make the stay relaxing and enjoyable. The hot-tub in a beautiful enclosed garden was a key feature.

Heathcote Cottage was a perfect place to spend a weeks holiday. Very close to Hickling broad where you can hire a boat from the Whispering Reeds boat yard. Two pubs within easy walking distance. Barbara has provided everything you need for a perfect home from home holiday . The afternoon tea and welcome basket was a very kind gesture which was much appreciated. The garden is very well kept, a pleasurable peaceful place to sit and enjoy an evening drink. And of course the hot tub was an added bonus. We will certainly be returning guests.

Really lovely cottage in a great location. The host Barbara is so friendly & welcoming; she had prepared an afternoon tea & hamper full of treats for when we arrived. We came with our 16 month old & it was perfect for him too. The only criticism I have is that I found the mattress a bit hard (but I’m used to a foam one!) We’d definitely stay again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a fantastic holiday at Heathcote cottage! The welcome from Barbara, food hamper and afternoon tea went above and beyond our expectations. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need, it was so clean and tidy. The hot tub was excellent! The area is beautiful and the local pubs, particularly the Greyhound superb. Visited all the local beaches and nature reserves. Tesco a short drive away for all your supplies. I can't recommend this place enough. I would definitely book here again.

Had a lovely stay at Heathcote. It’s a gorgeous little cottage in a very pretty little village which is quite centrally located for touring Norfolk. We arrived to afternoon tea and a generous welcome basket. The cottage was imacculate. The only reason I gave it an 8 is because it’s not really suitable for toddlers and we had a 2 year old with us. The open staircases were a bit difficult to manage with the little one. But I would stop there again when the kids are older.

Had a lovely 3 night break with work girls at heathcote cottage. We were greeted by Barbara and overwhelmed with the lovely welcome pack of a hamper basket and tea stand of sandwiches and cakes. We found the cottage very clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. all good quality furniture and kitchen equipment. The location was very peaceful with a lovely short walk to hickling broad pub and shop. Barbara provided maps and info on beaches walks and lots of useful information. The garden is very pretty and well arranged and looked after with pretty lights, and of course the hot tub was great.

On arrival we was greeted by Barbara and her charming daughter who showed us where everything was and how things worked, we was then given a welcome pack which was an amazing array of food and drink. The cottage was absolutely gorgeous and was possibly the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. Overall we had a fantastic time at Heathcote Cottage and we will most definitely be returning.
