Situated within easy walking distance of the pubs and restaurants in Tintagel, Hazeldene was the perfect base for a week walking some of the North Cornwall coast path. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. There is also space to park 2 cars which was important for us. Home from home really. We were there in late October early November and although the weather was lovely we didn't really get to appreciate the garden or use the BBQ. I'm sure we would have done had the our visit been in the summer months. The pubs and restaurants are obviously geared up for a busy tourist trade but we enjoyed some better than average meals out. The coast path near here is some of the most spectacular. All in all, a great week and very good value.

We had a fantastic stay at Hazeldene. The house was large, clean and airy. Its close to the High Street, with cafe's, pubs and shops a very short walk away.

This was our second stay at Hazeldene this year. It really is a comfortable, clean house, close to local pubs that serve great food and close to the coastal walk which offers some amazing views.

Ideally situated for the Cornish north coast. Needs a bit of TLC and some facilities renewing, eg mattress. Garden needs tidying up and owner aware, boiler fumes permeate downstairs when doors are closed, so need to ventilate when in the house.

A lovely cottage - good to enjoy Tintagel and also very comfortable to chill out in.

The overall rating is very low compared to the other scores I have given. This is because the actual property itself and the location were great but there was a major problem with an awful smell of kerosene from the oil fired heating system. I contacted the owner whilst we were on holiday and was told this was normal for oil fired systems but my research since I got home suggests otherwise. If it hadn't been for this smell, which actually caused my wife to be quite ill, I would have given a much higher overall score.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am so sorry the smell from the oil was disturbing for your holiday. We stayed at the property frequently in the winter and didn't notice it particularly but maybe we are used to it or it wasn't in constant use. I have now asked our plumber to go in and check the boiler and consequently we will replace it in July when we have a free week rather than trying to repair it. The boiler was not dangerous, just getting old hence the increasing smell. We do endeavour to make the house as nice as possible and stay often to assess if we can add anything to make it more comfortable. Therefore I am sorry you enjoyed everything but the smell and should you return I can reassure you that the boiler has now been dealt with.

This is a lovely house but we did have an issue where someone tried to get in through the front door, in the middle of the night and had to call the police. I have recommended that the front door has a better lock or bolt fitted. Apart from that we enjoyed the week very much.

A lovely home from home in a great location. We were warm and cosy even though the weather was very rainy and unseasonably cold.
