This is a beautiful cottage set in a quiet country location. It is nice to wake up to the sound of bird song and not the sound of a city. Saying that you are only a few miles from St Austell and the beaches on the south coast. This is a great base for exploring all of Cornwall, the Eden Project is not far away, and there are several National Trust places close too. It was very nice to have a welcome hamper with essential supplies. The property was very well presented, spotlessly clean. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, I hope to return there next year. Anthony

A lovely cottage with a very comfortable feel. We felt relaxed and at home as soon as we walked through the door! Thank you so much for the welcome basket with delicious local goods and the real Christmas tree, one of the many little personal touches that made our Christmas really special. Our two small boys settled in their room and enjoyed going to say hello the horses in the field :) Overall we had a great time and will undoubtedly come and stay at Hay Cottage again. Thanks Jo and Graham for making us feel so welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at hay cottage the only small negative was that we could feel the springs through the bed in the double bedroom and as my wife suffers from arthritis this meant a few bad nights but we got round it by putting another quilt cover over the top of the mattress topper. We are both slim so this was not due to being overweight. The other small negative was the WI FI and the distance to the pub was not as suggested under a mile. All in all we had a lovely week and the cottage was very comfortable and would use it again.

We had a lovely week at Hay Cottage. It is located in a lovely spot within easy reach of lots of good places to visit and lovely beaches. Very convenient to Asda for shopping and the local convenience store and very good chip shop on way into St. Austell. The narrow road to cottage would be fine if the hedges were cut back a little. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise. The cottage itself is lovely with lots of space. We would definitely visit again.

There have been a lot of very poor reviews of this property so I want to set a few things straight. The property is beautifully decorated and furnished, everything you could ever dream of has been provided, there are no carpet smells of any kind and would go as far as to say that this is the best property I have ever rented and would go back in a heartbeat. I felt comfortable and at home the whole week.

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you so much for your comments, we feel we work hard to provide a comfortable, welcoming holiday home away from home. We try and provide as many things as possible to help our guests enjoy their stay. It is after all your holiday. We live next door in Hay Farm and can always be contacted for help and assistance.

Lovely cottage and great location. Just a few things would have made our stay more comfortable, the sofa could do with being replaced as it wasn't very comfortable and the carpets that run through the house had an old musty smell despite being very clean. The 2 rooms that didn't have carpet were absolutely fine so I know it was the old carpet letting it down. It wasn't pleasant to come back to after a day out as it was so musty and damp smelling. Overall the cottage was immaculate and very well stocked. The welcome basket was a very lovely gesture. Nervous drivers might have a problem with the lanes to the cottage, but the peace and quiet was worth the rural location. Hay cottage was ideally placed for visiting all of Cornwall and our holiday was very well spent exploring all areas of Cornwall. St Ives, Tintagel, Lands End and Minnack theatre I would highly recommend. Book away ahead for the theatre although my 2 children really enjoyed the storytelling, simply fabulous.

The cottage ticks most of the required boxes. On arriving the owners welcome basket was greatly appreciated with essentials and extras. Location was good for getting around unless you do not like country lanes although the local pub (friendly staff and excellent food) was further than stated. The cottage provides a great base however could have been cleaner and the addition of extra towels for a week would be a help as we ended up having to wash them. Overall a nice cottage in a fantastic area of the country.

This is a fabulous cottage set in a rural location but close many places in the St. Austell area including lovely beaches, harbours, villages & towns, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan all well worth a visit. Hay Cottage was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities and even a welcome basket full of Cornwall goodies. We would definitely stay again.
