We had a fab stay for a few days with great walks in the surrounding area with the dogs. The cottage garden is large and secure for small/medium dogs and our two loved it. The countryside surrounding the cottage is stunning. Not too far to drive to the shops or to eat out. The owners were wonderfully helpful too. I would go there again.

Peaceful quiet location which is what we required..large garden for our dogs. Would be great in the summer as there is a conservatory and decking. Log burner was a joy to use as it creates an ideal atmosphere keeping in character with the age of the cottage...small down side the beds squeak but again are in keeping with the character...

Spent a cold, crisp November weekend amidst stunning scenery at Hassendean. The house was warm, extremely cosy and welcoming after long walks in the hills with the dogs. The log burner added that extra homely feeling. Excellent communication with owners who could not have been more helpful. I read the previous reviews before booking and can only say that some people need to get a life. The property represented excellent value for money with no supplement for dogs and we will definitely go back. The photograph is the view from the back garden at dawn.

The cottage was ideal for both people and dogs. The garden was well secured and was in a peaceful rural setting.excellant shower and all the amenities you could want. Trips around the area were great, walks, castles, gardens and lots of good places to eat. We had a lovely time.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend away with my mum, dad and dog Storm to Hassendean Cottage. The location was brilliant, the garden was perfect for my dog and the views were out this world. The cottage itself maybe needs a bit of updating and the cleaning of a few cobwebs but alert from that I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to get away from the rat race and relax for a few days. Wonderful x

Nearby Denholm has 2 Inns& 2 Cafes, a shop & river walks, the more energetic can climb up to Fatlips Castle, take the path up to & through Denholmhill woods through a wall gate down into Denholm Dean, or instead go up to top of the wood & take right of way to the right & into Ruberslaw wood, this brings you to the flank of Ruberslaw at 494m,with 360 degree views of the surrounding border hills. The abbeys of Melrose, Jedburgh & Kelso, as well as Floors Castle are also with-in easy driving distance.

A really lovely cottage with a very safe garden for our little dog. No holes to escape through. We had a very relaxing week and would love to return.
