This beautiful, detached cottage is tucked away in a quiet location, within walking distance of the town centre, wildlife reserve and canal. Ellesmere has grown over the years into a pretty market town with medieval streets, Georgian houses and half-timbered buildings. There’s also a bundle of shops selling everything from antiques and gifts to exotic food, and a good selection of pubs, bars, takeaways and restaurants. Its position in the north of Shropshire makes it an ideal base for exploring Shropshire, Cheshire, mid and North Wales. There is a series of gentle walks in and around the town that will take you past the marina, along the canal to the mere or through the arboretum and Cremorne Gardens. Further afield you will find National Trust properties within a 40-minute drive. There is a sailing club on one of the meres, go karting and paintballing are also available near Oswestry, as is Park Hall working farm. Nearby Llangollen is home to horse drawn canal boat rides, white water sports, steam train and the National Eisteddfod. Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth are an easy drive. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. Separate toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double (one 5ft), 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

the cottage was comfortable enough but the location wasnt very relaxing. it was near the centre of Ellesmere but often noisy and felt cramped. the pictres made it look bigger than it was.

It’s a lovely holiday home in a great area. During our stay we had marvellous weather, so we stayed the whole day and evening in the garden. People and dogs had a great time. The only point of attention is the fence which needs to be mended. Thank you so much and hope to be there again!

A lovely cottage in a great location. We loved the outdoor area. Comfortable and generally well equipped though for us there were some issues with kitchen equipment. Because there were 6 of us there wasn't always enough table crockery and cutlery so we had to run the dishwasher twice a day.

This was our second visit to Hart Cottage. The location is ideal - so close to town and amenities but in a little world of it's own. There is no hustle & bustle, no traffic noise - just birdsong. The Mere and the canal are just a short walk away as are Tesco and pubs and restaurants. We parked the car and never moved it 'til it was time to leave. A great cottage - I'm sure we'll be back.

We stayed for 3 nights, ideal location for travelling around or ideal for a getaway if you don’t want to drive once you’re there. All the shops are close by, had a great meal at The Red Lion. Canal is a 5 min walk away which was a nice walk. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The garden needs some TCL ,needs a solid path from the front door to the patio area or a gate in the fence. It would be nice if the fence was close boarded for more privacy, the shed floor and door need attention. Bathroom fan didn't work ,the heating creeks and bangs so you have to turn it off over night if you want any sleep. Needs more cutlery, kettle needs descaling, the electrical appliances need to be retested as are months out of date. The smoke alarm went off at 4am it had a battey whitch expired 2015! The sofa needs up dating very tired and uncomfortable. Over all with a bit of TLC Hart Cottage would be highly recommended it's in a great location easy parking lots of lovely walks from the front door, a big choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes, takeaway plus loads of shops to. We enjoyed are stay if the issue were rectified we would happily return .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. The gate you mention has been mended. We have been let down many times by the person who does the PAT testing but he has promised he will be there next Friday (July 2018). We will of course look at the smoke alarm but we do test them every time we go so I can only apologise for it going off during the night. We will buy more crockery and cutlery - unfortunately guests tend to break items and not tell us so before we know it we haven’t got enough for larger parties. A gardener has been and tidied up the garden. However as we do not live near the cottage ourselves please bear in mind that it is rather difficult to keep plants watered and weeds down, especially during the recent extremes of weather. We will look at the kettle (which is one of those that is meant to not need descaling!), the shed door and the bathroom fan (we were unaware it was not working so thank you for telling us).

Great cottage, well placed for shops and restaurants etc. Just a short stroll to Ellesmere Mere and Canal with great walks on both. Warm and cosy and well equipped. Loved the log burner for the cold wintery nights.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Wonderful, cozy, comfortable cottage in a great location for the town and walking. The lane outside does get a bit muddy in wet weather and we were constantly trying not to walk mud into the cottage, but not a showstopper. Would highly recommend this cottage.
