Description

Stroll around the 300-acre grounds surrounding this bungalow, tucked away amongst the Devon countryside.

Set in 300 acres of stunning gardens, lakes and woodlands, Harcombe House - owned and operated by The Fire Fighters Charity - is the ideal location for a relaxing break. Offering holiday makers the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful holiday in Devon’s glorious countryside, while also supporting injured fire fighters across the UK, Harcombe House is just 12 miles south of the historic city of Exeter.

Harcombe House provides the ideal environment for family holidays, friends to get together, or for peace and quiet. Each bungalow is detached and has been decorated and furnished to a good standard, and has amazing views over the countryside. Each bungalow has a patio with furniture. There is an indoor heated swimming pool which is shared with other guests, tennis court and plenty of walks from your front door. There is also a bar on-site, which is open in the evening.

Holiday at Harcombe House and you’ll be supporting the work of The Fire Fighters Charity, providing life enhancing rehabilitation services to fire fighters across the UK.

The properties are situated in an ideal location for visiting all that Devon has to offer, including Dartmoor National Park; the landscape is as dramatic as its weather, from its striking granite tors, to steep wooded river valleys and from swathes of heather-covered moorland, to tucked away villages and hamlets. Whether you want a quiet, gentle stroll, or an exhilarating mountain biking experience, there’s something for you at Haldon Forest Park, 3500 acres of woodland which is just 15 minutes from Harcombe House.

There are many cycle trails, including a great all-ability trail, with fun features for children with regular resting points that take in some stunning views over Exeter and Dartmoor. Or, if you like walking there are many different walks including The Butterfly Trail, which is a circular walk which, in places, gives you stunning views across the forest and over the Teign Valley.

Visit Go Ape, a forest adventure park with zip wires, Tarzan swings and a variety of crossings. Crealy Adventure Park, a great day out for the children, is also close by. Many sandy beaches can be found nearby, or take a trip further afield and visit the historic city of Exeter, with its canals, shops and cafes. Plymouth has the Sea Life Centre, Barbican waterfront and Plymouth Hoe, a large, south-facing open public space. East Devon has dramatic coastlines and is excellent for walking the coastal path, where you can visit Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Seaton. There are many National Trust properties all close by and worth visiting. The English Riviera is also on your doorstep, with sandy beaches, steam railway, zoo, theatres and boat trips. Beach 8½ miles. Shop 2 miles, restaurant 1 mile, pub on-site.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with patio doors. Kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, 1 single. Bathroom with shower over bath (no toilet). Separate toilet.

All properties: Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave.
