Description

Luxury 18th Century fishermans cottage for eight with wood burning stove and enclosed garden. Fabulous views to the harbour at Craster

This beautiful 19th-century former fisherman’s stone cottage stands in an elevated position with commanding views of the harbour. One of a pair, and renovated to the highest of standards, Harbourway makes the ideal location for a family holiday or get together with friends.
Craster is a popular fishing village, noted particularly for its superb kippers - there is an on-site shop at the famous Craster curing sheds where fish can be bought, and there is a good seafood restaurant within the village. Situated on a 20-mile stretch of breathtaking coastline, which has been designated as one of the nation’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the coastal walk from Craster to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle is a must, and has been recently nominated as Britain’s most popular walk. Fishing, bird-watching and golf (the course at Foxton is reputed to be the best in Northumberland) are all available locally.
A short drive away lies Alnwick Castle - home to the Percy family, and the second largest inhabited castle in England. Featured in the Harry Potter films, this enchanting and magnificent castle is filled with an array of decorative and fine art. The famous Alnwick Garden, together with the largest treehouse in Europe and stunning water gardens, make a good day out for all the family. Embleton Bay is close by and is said to be one of the most romantic bays in England. Shop and pub 220 yards.

Fabulous cottage, just perfect. Really helpful owner. We went for my 50th and took Champagne and there weren't enough glasses, the kitchen cupboard contents could benefit from checking generally. Would certainly stay again.

We've been visiting this property for 6 years and it is a great home for a relaxing holiday in a quiet seaside village. The pub is within easy reach, there are great walks along the coastal path and the town of Alnwick is within easy reach. We have already booked for next year!

Perfect place for a mixed group. Plenty space to gather but also to disperse. Kitchen well equipped. Great pub. Dog walks from the cottage limited (my one's a runner) but 10 mins in the car to perfect beaches for her.. Beadnell, Newton, Embleton take your pick. Everyone totally impressed with the cottage. We didn't have children with us, but you could see it would work for them too. All in all, great place to stay. Owners attentive and lovely, though no cause to meet. Could not recommend more highly.

The property was well appointed in a lovely village, it had ample space for all generations that went. An excellent holiday rental overall. However it lacked a 3rd shower & taking the empty glass/bottles in our opinion should be up to the owners to organise.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; In response to your comment on the disposal of bottles. Unfortunately the local council do not collect glass waste from properties. As we are sometimes having to cope with many bottles after a large party in the house for 7 days, while we are more than happy to remove a few glass bottles, we do not have the time on changeover day to make numerous trips to bottle banks in the area which is why we ask guests to remove excess bottles on a couple of days while they are staying at the property. The comment on the 3rd shower has been noted thank you. as are the positive comments on providing a bath for children etc.

Disappointed that as we arrived late and shops were closed that we had a share a cups of tea between us as not enough milk and nothing to eat no biscuits or bread. House comfortable we had a lovely stay. Expensive considering age of some of the appliances and age of tv etc. Decorator popped in a couple of times to do jobs which was ok house could do with a freshen up. Fittings need to be attended to i.e loo roll holders some lamps etc. Thoroughly enjoyed our week

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are very sorry you did not receive the normal welcome tray etc. This will be checked by our housekeeping team. The house is painted from top to bottom every winter ready for the next year ahead, with our maintenance team doing any urgent repairs as required which happened in this case. All the fittings are of a high standard and in working order before we leave on a Saturday, I do request guests to contact me if there are any issues that arise during their stay which will be addressed quickly. Harbourway is a lovely house and I am pleased you enjoyed your stay.
