Lovely place to stay, well looked after and clearly thoughtful owners who left some snacks and tea/coffee/milk which was really nice to arrive to after a long drive. Obviously you do have to drive everywhere but we were expecting that. Very private and the hot tub is lovely.

Strange set up , sitting in the owners garden whilst they sat on a veranda overlooking the garden. apartment was' work in progress' the main entrance had unfinished work by the gate, the garden terrace had an unfinished terrace with out railings to a large drop, garden photographs very cleverly taken to avoid showing this. apartment very clean and had everything we needed hot tub placed in a summer house/garden shed , this ensured privacy

On the edge of a large housing estate this property was surprisingly quiet & a lovely place to stay. As the owners house is above the property I think we were lucky they were away for the week ensuring we had a greater level of privacy & quiet than might perhaps be the normal case. The property was fine but on arrival there is some incomplete work at the front of the house, also an area of decking on the lower level where work is ongoing - I think these need to be finished off as soon as possible. A very minor critism is that one had to go into the bedroom to get a decent Wi-Fi signal, it barely worked for me in the lounge. Two of our party have very basic Sky packages but this property had far fewer channels (or we failed to find them). However, picture quality was excellent on the terrestial channels & the few others we found. This was fine for us but as there has been a previous negative review relating to Sky perhaps the expectations need to be set a little lower by making it clear which Sky channels are available. We enjoyed our stay, bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen were excellent, we found the lounge a little cramped but the hot tub was excellent as was the various garden spaces.

Lovely location, great size rooms, clean and lovely hot tub. We couldn’t access all sky channels and bbq was dirty and mouldy.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Firstly we would like to thank these guests for the positive comments. We were disappointed that the guest felt the need to write about the BBQ. We live on the premises and always stress to our guests to contact us if there is any problems. There are several contact numbers and we are happy for guests to knock on the door. As this was in February the BBQ had been covered up for several months and when we checked it after reading this review we found that because of condensation, mildew had formed on the lid and in the bottom of the BBQ, if had we been informed at the time we would have been more than happy to clean the mildew off. It’s very unusual for a BBQ to be used in the winter months but we have taken this feedback on board and will make sure we wipe the condensation off on a regular basis. We are not sure which Sky channels couldn’t be accessed as again we were not informed at the time. The only channels that are restricted are those that need to be paid for. We would like to apologise to the guest for any inconvenience caused but we would have been more than happy to rectify any problems at the time.

I would normally put the positives first, but as I feel we've been had right over, I'll do it the other way round. I booked the Harbour Lodge for a few days before my wife went into hospital. On the website it stated that there was 'building work going on next door'. As they are detached properties we did think it would be a problem. On our arrival we found that it was their property above which was having building work, not next door at all. I put this to Michael on our arrival, but he blamed it on the company I booked through. I had spoken to the owners by Text a couple of days earlier, but even though they knew the info was wrong, they failed to mention it to us. The place was (is) a Building site. Scaffolding erected all round, building materials everywhere and a skip sitting on one of the Parking spaces, meaning there wasn't even one whole parking space to use. It was (is) not a fit place to be open as a Holiday apartment. The main attraction of this place is the Hot Tub, which Michael showed us straight away. We were instructed to keep an eye on it as there was a problem with it, which meant that the pump motor kept stopping. We were asked to keep turning it on when it did so. As I'm sure you're aware, a Hot Tub without the water being circulated, means it's going to go stagnant. Which it had obviously started to do, because it smelt. My wife wouldn't get in it. If you are due to go and stay here, I advise you to take; Earplugs - The owner live above and I don't think they've got carpet. You can hear them clomping around on the floor above. When they are watching TV in the Living Room it's very loud in the en-suite Bedroom below. Oven dishes - The Oven is fine, but there's only one large cumbersome metal cooking tray. We went out and bought another one to use while we were there. A hard hat and old clothes. There are bits of scaffolding stucking out and building materials everywhere. On the positive side, it's clean and tidy and apart from oven dishes, fairly well equipped.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Firstly we would like to apologise that these guests didn’t enjoy their stay at Harbour Lodge. First impressions are always the most lasting and to arrive to see some of the house swathed in scaffolding would have been a surprise as the expectation was to see the building works next door, however, had they been next door no consideration would have been given to our guests regarding noise. No building works were carried out during their stay. The scaffolding was erected by a professional company and meets all the health and safety requirements and is temporary. The Agency had reassured us on several occasions that they had amended their mistake and were now specifying that the building work was indeed at 38 Harbour Way and not next door but unfortunately this was still not the case, unbeknown to us. With regards to the hot tub, unfortunately mechanical equipment can go wrong and one of the pumps of which there are three (two were still fully functional) had just started to develop an intermittent problem. It was pointed out at the start of their stay that an engineer wasn’t available for a few days, but so as not for them to be disappointed, we suggested they could manually turn it on. This was their choice as we make it clear that the hot tub is used at your own discretion. The hot tub is checked and maintained daily at our guest’s convenience. Our policy is that we want our guests to be happy and we really hope they enjoy their stay so there are several numbers for us to be contacted on if there are any queries which are clearly visible on the front of the welcome folder or we are more than happy for guests to knock on our door.
