This superb, detached barn conversion is one of those uniquely rare properties that can accommodate the larger of family parties in true comfort and style! Its spacious living rooms, generous en-suite bedrooms (some of which suit partially handicapped guests), and wealth of extra facilities will delight guests, and the property retains many character beams, with fine joinery and decor. There are separate stairs to 2 ’wings’, so plenty of room to spread out. An ideal base for a year-round holiday, with fine walks to Stokesay Castle, a short drive to Wenlock Edge and Long Mynd, and about half an hour from Ironbridge museums. Offa’s Dyke and Clun are nearby. The village of Craven Arms has some charming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrim’s travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys. Knighton, Bishops Castle, medieval Ludlow, home to nearly 500 listed buildings are within easy reach. There is half a mile of coarse fishing within walking distance. Shops, pubs and restaurants ¾ mile.

Had a family get together at Halford Big Barn 11 of us ranging from 3 to 85. Spacious house with plenty of room for all. Yes. House is a little dated but well equipped. Kitchen full of all necessary items to cook full meals. Constructive suggestions - Better outside lighting needed, instructions for cookers and some leaflets on local attractions/amenities would be useful

Big comfortable house. Mostly mid 20th century furniture. Needs a radiator or other heater in the generous kitchen because it was cold until we started cooking. Masses of kitchen stuff, more ovens, baking trays, casseroles etc than in any house I’ve rented, and two ovens.

A large and comfortable place for big gatherings. Plenty of seats, china, glasses etc. And plenty of parking for our many cars. A bit tired round the edges-curtains need new tracks. Nice new carpet though. We had a great time.

Odd things annoyed like the absence of light bulbs which a simple check before would have resolved. The walk in shower downstairs was ok but unsuitable for semi disabled like the lack of a shelf in the shower. A short hand rail by all stairs/steps inside and outside would help. The very creaky ceilings were annoying. Cracked crockery should have been removed. For 14 people one key was difficult. However the house was warm and comfortable although one bedroom seemed to have a radiator which doubled as an expansion system and could not be turned off. But the place was very suitable for the 14 of us.

Lots of space to accommodate a big family gathering. A bit shabby but it had everything we needed.

Masses of space and comfortable lounges. Lots of kitchen equipment. Could do with a bit of sprucing up and thorough cleaning. For the price, a lot of house!

The place was not clean when we landed up there late in the afternoon. There were three dead bats that we found along with what seemed like bat droppings in one of the bedrooms. The same bedroom had a musty smell. The plates and cutlery were not all clean and we had to put it through a dishwasher before first use. We had to continue at the property owing to the fact that we gathered there from different locations and to look for another property would have been impractical at that moment. There is a working yard behind the house. While there was no disturbance from that place during our two night stay, it was definitely not an idyllic sight. There are plenty of rooms for socialising by different age groups. We cut short our visit by a night. If the place were maintained clean, it would have been great. Not happy with the experience, I'm afraid.

We spent a fantastic holiday at Halford Big Barn. Everything was working perfectly and the house has plenty of space both indoor and out. We had to call on our landlords once and it was no problem at all. 10/10
