A wonderful location and great views of the Gower. Comfortable bedrooms downstairs, both en-suite. Very comfortable upstairs living space in the style of a barn conversion. Lots of little extras supplied in the kitchen area. The full Sky package and fast wifi were great bonuses.

Location was very good and the cottage was comfortable. However, the cooking utensils & dishes were not sufficient if cooking for self. The washing machine dispenser drawer needs a good clean, as does the door. It was so grubby that we could not use it. The ensuite to the double bedroom needs a deep clean. There was a build up of "gunge" around the bath, the shower screen, the shower holder etc. The amount of debris that fell from under the toilet rim when I used the toilet brush was nauseating. Indeed, it appeared that the owner had forgotten to clean the bathroom prior to our arrival: There was an empty, dusty bleach bottle on the ledge next to a dusty bottle of bathroom cleaner. I cleaned the basin myself. The bin had not been emptied.. amongst other things there were used and discarded sanitary items. ...This is the first holiday let we have used where there was no toilet roll left for initial use. There were few if any instructions regarding equipment - microwave, oven etc. An impressive magazine rack contained out of date brochures. Many of the local information leaflets were several years old. Overall we did not feel welcome..it was as if the owners were just interested in hiring the cottage.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We take all reviews from our guests seriously and were therefore very concerned and upset to read this. We take great care to present Hairpin Cottage in as good a way as we are able. Our fantastic caretakers thoroughly clean the cottage before every new arrival. The bathroom was in fact deep cleaned just prior to the guests stay so we don’t understand the comments regarding items left in the bathroom. Toilet rolls were provided for these and all our other guests. As Owners, we use Hairpin Cottage as a family holiday home whenever we can. The kitchen is more than adequately equipped and the last time we were there, we cooked a roast dinner for six people with no such difficulty. All the saucepans were brand new since I replaced them over the Christmas break. Had these guests looked in the leather bound guide booklet which is left on the coffee table, I provide my personal contact telephone number in the eventuality that guests have a problem or a query. Rather than leaving a review after the event, I would have expected this reviewer to have had the courage of his convictions and ring me to point out his perceived issues and then I could have done something to address them as the comfort of our guests is extremely important to us.

stayed here from 26th January for one week. Although the cottage is very nice and in a commanding position with great views it needs to be pointed out in the information that there is no outside space which was a disappointment. I agree with another reviewer that the bathrooms could be cleaner.
