Description

A great base for a holiday, on the cusp of the Peak District National Park with easy access to various attractions.

Situated in a simply stunning location on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this beautiful, semi-detached, country holiday cottage, adjacent to the owner’s home, with its beamed ceilings and mullion windows, boasts superb panoramic views to the front, and an elevated multi-tiered garden to the rear. A perfect retreat for relaxing and taking in the surrounding scenery on warm summer evenings, the environment is rural and ideal for peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Within easy reach however, are the villages of Broadbottom and Charlesworth with their local amenities, together with the town of Glossop, home to ample shops, pubs and restaurants, and also renowned as the Gateway to the Peaks. Beautiful country walks can be enjoyed straight from the door through pastures and woodland, or down the River Etherow which forms the border with Derbyshire. The peaceful village of Hayfield, recognisable from TVs ‘The Village’, can be reached within 20 minutes and is hugely popular with walkers due its close proximity to Kinder Scout. The magnificent, historic houses of Chatsworth Estate, Tatton Park and Haddon Hall can all be reached in around 45 minutes, as can the village of Eyam and its truly fascinating plague story. Edale, Castleton and the surrounding stunning Hope Valley scenery can be reached in half an hour, as can the city of Manchester by direct train from Broadbottom station. There really is the choice to do as little or as much as you wish in this perfect rural escape. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 3/4 mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen with tiled floor. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double, one with wooden floor, 1 single with wooden floor. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Most rooms with beams.

Exceptionally clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a good and peaceful location. Nice views to the surrounding hills. Well placed for visiting both the countryside of the Peak District and the cities of Manchester and Sheffield. There are nice walks right from the front door as well. The beds were very comfortable, it was spacious enough inside for five people and there was nothing which we needed which wasn't provided. Highly recommended.

This cottage is an absolute gem. The owner is very warm and friendly. It is tucked away down a long country track, which adds to the charm. It has everything you need. Very warm and comfortable, even with snow on the ground. Beautiful views with walks on the doorstep. The village about 1 mile away has a lovely Farm shop/Cafe/ Garden centre. The village also has a railway station which links into Manchester.
