This property is part of our Wales Regional Cottages collection

The Wales Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Wales better!

A cosy property for a couple, Hafotty Bach is a great base in which to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the Powys countryside.

Relax and unwind at Hafotty Bach, a lovely holiday property attached to the owner’s home, which is set in the rolling hills of north Powys. The owners’ hens and geese are a delight to watch, and the solar powered underfloor heating means that this is a really eco-friendly property. There is a cosy ground floor living area, with a dining conservatory overlooking the pretty garden, whilst upstairs there is an en-suite bedroom with great views over the surrounding countryside. The upper meadow is beautiful, a real wild flower haven with hundreds of butterfly orchids in summer. There are walks from the door, and the nearest pub is just 2 miles away in Penybontfawr.

One of the ‘Seven Wonders of Wales’ is nearby – Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall, which at 80ft is the UK’s highest single drop waterfall. Also close by is the impressive Lake Vyrnway, with its enormous Victorian dam. Here you can spend the day walking around the perimeter of the lake or hire a bike. Visit the RSPB hides, or enjoy lunch in one of the cafés. At Welshpool, visit Powis Castle (National Trust) and its stunning gardens, or take a trip on the Welshpool & Llanfair steam railway. To the west lies Bala, offering water sports at Lake Bala (the largest natural lake in Wales) and at the White Water Rafting Centre. There is also trout fishing available nearby.

A little further afield, the latest adrenaline attractions of Zip World and Bounce Below at Blaenau Ffestiniog are within easy reach. The stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park is just a short drive away, and beckons you temptingly over towards the glorious sandy beaches around Barmouth. Shop and pub 2 miles, restaurant 4 miles.

Lovely secluded cottage in the countryside. Welcoming owners, perfect for a couple and pet friendly. Cottage is well equipped, honey, bread and milk was a lovely touch. Unfortunately there was a unusual amount of flies on our day of arrival which was slightly disappointing.

The owners have done a lovely job in providing a little nook away from the world with a clear emphasis on ecologically sensitive living, which is very welcome. The owners are also very friendly and are doing a sterling job in developing their immediate surrounding which is already pleasing to engage with. A woodpecker was one of the many birds that we saw on our one day get away which was an added bonus. Excellent honey from the owner's colonies and an interesting collection of fossils and geological rocks so bring a magnifying glass for budding geologists. Seven for local amenities' as they are a few minutes drive away, but that was actually a positive for us, and I would always like anywhere I stay to be cheaper just so I could spend longer/visit more often :)

Fantastic hosts and a lovely cottage. Dog friendly and comfortable. Finding it can be a challenge but well worth it when you get there.

A great welcome from the host with a lovely supply of 'welcome' provisions. An interesting place to stay, especially if the weather is good. A very comfy bed and sofa and a well equipped kitchen. A good place from which to explore the nearby Lake Vyrnwy and mid-Wales.

A fantastic hidden little gem. If you need to recharge your batteries, the peace and quiet, with all the country surroundings are fab. Owner Will is brilliant, really helpful, always there if needed. We missed meeting his wife Bridget who was away at the time. That means we are defo going back to Wils lovely pink gin, their fresh honey (straight from his bees) handpicked veg, good apple cider, need i say will find it hard to galavant to the other surrounding places. The cottage captures you, a must for a visit to the meadow too, above all it's a very special place and we have had a momentous holiday. Dawn, John & the woofs X Manchester X
