Travel cot. Ceramic hob. Electric oven. Shared lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture.

Both properties: Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. High chair. Freeview TV. CD. Microwave. Washing machine. Parking (1 car). No smoking. NB: Unfenced pond in owner’s garden, 20 yards.

Quietly positioned behind the owner’s home, these delightful holiday cottages are situated just 2 miles from the quaint market town of Thirsk, with its 15th-century church, original cinema and renowned racecourse. The cobbled market square hosts a twice weekly market and is surrounded by individual shops, traditional inns and tea rooms. Alf Wight, the well-known vet and author of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ lived here and the ‘World of James Herriott’ visitor centre gives a fascinating insight into the working life of this famous vet, his subsequent books and TV series. Grove House Cottages provide a perfect base from which to explore the wider area too, with the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North Yorkshire Moors to the east. Places of interest include Sutton Bank and Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey and Aysgarth Falls. Families enjoy hours of fun at Lightwater Valley, the Forbidden Corner and Flamingo Land. The coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey are all easily accessible and regular trains and buses run to the ancient walled city of York, 25 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub 100 yards and restaurants 1 mile.

Comfortable, warm and clean. Owner very welcoming and on hand if needed. Ideal location to visit Thirsk, Ripon and the surrounding area. Recommend the Dog and Gun(a minutes walk away) for excellent food.

We love this cottage. It has everything you could need for your stay. We arrived and the owner had put milk in fridge and got us a cake as well. Our cottage consisted of a double room and a twin room. Fully fitted kitchen and two leather couches in the open plan living area also dining table. The bathroom has a very powerful shower. It is a quiet area which we liked. There is a pub in village that serves great food and within walking distance from cottage. There is a bus service to thirsk and ripon. Also a train station .all in all we love it.

Ann is so kind and considerate. Nothing is too much trouble. Milk and cake on arrival were lovely touches. The cottage is spotlessly clean. A true home from home, everything you could want is provided. Comfy bed, power shower and amazing garden. Very private with off road parking. Cottage is well placed for Thirsk Helmsley Northallerton. Lots to see and do. Fantastic.
