This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

This five star thatched property is simply beautiful and has a romantic ambiance which is perfect for a couples retreat.

If you are looking for something a little special to celebrate an occasion or looking for that extra bit of comfort after long day walking or exploring then look no further than the cottages at Glasses Farm. Nestling in the pretty landscape within Exmoor National Park, Grooms Lodge (ref: EVA) and Stable Cottage (ref: EVB), have been converted form the original stables of an impressive 16th century thatched long house. Both these thatched cottages have been presented to a very high standard. The cottages offer a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Each cottage has a private sitting-out area that looks out across the well-maintained shared garden. There are a further 20 acres of land to enjoy too. The owner of the cottages is a renowned breeder of American miniature horses. Should you choose to come and stay with friends, the cottages do have an adjoining door on the first floor. The cottages are located just outside the charming village of Roadwater, where there is a shop and pub all within walking distance of the cottages. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor, and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy walking and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in stream engines. Dunster Castle (NT) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, Deer Park and Mill will make for an interesting day out, as well as Porlock Weir. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor for all to enjoy. Shops 500 yards, pub 300 yards.

Large, beamed kitchen/dining room with slate floor. Double bedroom with 6ft bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower cubicle and toilet. First floor: Large, beamed living room.

Lovely comfortable cottage beautifully furnished. Welcoming and helpful owners who obviously appreciate their lovely home and are happy to share.

The cottage was lovely and bursting with character despite having a modern kitchen and bath/shower room which was perfect. The settees were very comfortable too. The only thing missing was a fireplace but the cottage was very comfortably warm in October.

A really happy stay at this well equipped and decorated cottage. Local village close enough to enjoy strolling to. Within good driving distance of many interesting towns and villages. The owners of Grooms Lodge were helpful and friendly. An all round recommendation for this charming holiday let.

Lovely cottage in nice peaceful location. Handy for visiting Dunster, Minehead and Exmoor. Cheddar Gorge and Ilfracombe nice for day trips. Ken was very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely holiday in this cottage. Everything was very nice and the owners had done a lot to make it seem homely. One small disappointment and the reason that I didn't rate the property as '10' - the rooms did seem very dark due to the situation of the cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. Spotlessly clean. Very tranquil and peaceful. We enjoy walking and I did not realise how many walks are accessible from this area. Would definitely book again.

I was looking for a total break from work and London; lots of fresh air and a deep, hot bath at the end if every day. Despite very wet and cool weather, i got exactly what i wanted.

Beautiful roomy cottage in a quiet rural location. Very comfy bed. Great food in local pub down the road. Good for Dunster Castle and steam train. Would definitely stay again.
