Nice 2 bedroom bungalow with a well equipped kitchen and homely feel. There is a lovely garden with a covered area also. The location is great for exploring the new forest. Within easy walking distance of the hare and hounds public house which serves a good selection of beers and great food.

Nice homely cottage in good location, equipment in kitchen very good and plenty of everything required. TV on the small side, would have liked a bigger TV. Could not use the drive as the slope of the drive bottomed my car out, nice quite cul de sac, perfect location for enjoying all the New Forest as well as other towns and cities in Hampshire and Dorset

Nice comfortable bungalow with simple to use equipment. Plenty of leaflets advertising local attractions Excellent base for exploring the New Forest and beyond. A decent pub 5 minutes drive away for food and drink, but popular so it's sensible to reserve a table for evening meals. Even the weather was fine.

Brilliant location with easy access to the forest. Anywhere you wanted to go, e.g. towns, villages, the coast was within a 15/20 min drive and there is a gorgeous pub, butchers and well equipped shop in the centre of sway that’s in walking distance. The house is comfy and well equipped but a few things let it down. The interior is VERY 70s and feels like you’re staying in an elderly relatives house. Wood chip on the walls, thin carpets, floral curtains, etc. The kitchen is immaculate except for the drainer where you put washing up and is a little bit stained. There is everything you need in there to make a meal from scratch and the cupboards and drawers really were very clean. Bathroom was nice with good shower but then the sealant around the bath was mildewy and the shower screen leaked every time we had a shower. Other than that though, immaculate. Bedrooms have comfy beds and loads of hanging space in the wardrobes ( with hangers) but again just a little thing, in the twin there weren’t any valences in the bottom of the beds and the duvets were small and so kept on falling off in the night. Lastly the carpets could do with a good clean and the walls a lick of paint but this really is me being picky. I think the 3 star rating and pics on the website showed me exactly what to expect. I think for the money paid, there could be some very minor improvements to really make the cottage worth the money. Overall though we did enjoy our stay. It was in a quiet residential area and there was a park around the corner for our daughter to play. The forest was beautiful and would recommend this cottage as a base to explore the area. It was well set up for dogs (we don’t have one) and as a none doggy family the rooms didn’t smell of dogs.

Charming bungalow, dog friendly and very clean. Lovely welcome tray, nice shower and bathroom. Generally a comfortable well equipped accommodation. Delightful garden with sheltered areas for sitting out in all weathers including extreme heat in our case, location handy for beaches and the new forest.

I have been lucky to have stayed in many lovely cottages throughout the country, but this is the very best. Its a beautiful, clean, well appointed cottage. Humans and dog made to feel very welcome. Comfortable beds, lovely enclosed garden. Short walk to 2 dog friendly pubs. Already planning our next trip. Thank you

Well equipped, but cold in winter. Shower pressure poor and its water temperature control difficult to use. Dog friendly and secure garden. Decent location for exploring although bit of a walk (some without pavement) to heathland, etc. Driveway very steep, and top hump will ground car when loaded. Owners helpful and accessible. A bit expensive for what it is?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for returning to Greengage for your second winter holiday. We are glad your dog enjoyed the secure garden. I am sorry you found the bungalow to be cold. This modern bungalow is centrally heated and the boiler is relatively new. Guests have full control of the central heating and the thermostat is in open view in the hallway. There are full instructions about using the central heating in the property information file which we left on a coffee table in the lounge. The shower pressure has been measured and tested by a heating engineer who informed us that it was operating normally. The nearest stretch of heathland is a five minute walk from the bungalow, as described in the guide book for dog owners in the property. If someone is uncomfortable walking on village roads they can reach numerous free forest car parks within a five minute drive from the bungalow. Regarding the driveway, if it is too steep for your vehicle you can park on the street directly in front of the property. It is unfortunate that you did not inform me of your problems with the property when I called around and asked how you were getting on. UPDATE – APRIL 2019: We have now had a new shower unit fitted which has greatly increased the pressure of water that customers can enjoy.
