This thatched detached cottage is peacefully situated at the end of a no through lane, in a small village midway between Devizes and Salisbury. The cottage is full of character, with beams, a large inglenook fireplace and cottage kitchen. The garden is a delight, with a patio area and steps up to another seating area overlooking the fields. There are footpaths from the door onto Salisbury Plain, and the area is ideal for cyclists. Devizes is a historic market town with a colourful medieval past. The town enjoys a rich heritage of fine Georgian houses and a 19th century castle built on the site of a Norman stronghold. Wadworth’s celebrated brewery remains in its original town location and their brewer’s dray drawn by mighty Shire Horses is a regular and much-loved sight on the streets. One of the UK’s most iconic canals, the Kennet & Avon Canal, passes through Devizes and the famous flight of 29 locks are easily accessible on foot. Salisbury is known as the city in the countryside, and named by Lonely Planet as one of the world’s top 10 cities to visit in 2015. With timbered buildings, an Early English Gothic Cathedral home to the famous Magna Carta, a thriving market, a buzzing arts scene, museums and some of England’s finest historic houses, there are many things waiting to be explored. Other nearby attractions to visit include the stone circles at Stonehenge (2 miles) and Avebury, Lacock, Marlborough and the city of Bath, as well as Longleat and Stourhead. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.

The cottage was comfortable, characterful and very welcoming for dogs. However, it would be nice to have a DVD player for wet days and the supply of logs was a little stingy compared to many similar cottages we have stayed in.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. We're pleased you found the cottage comfortable and we will make sure in future there are more logs available for the 1st night as described in the cottage details. Also we take on board the point regarding the DVD player and will provide one for the enjoyment of future guests. We also take cleanliness very seriously and usually receive a high score in this regard so we will now double check all areas.

Green Willows is a beautiful thatched cottage with a lovely secluded garden in a peaceful location. The bathroom and toilet are both on the ground floor so its a trek down very (very) steep stairs and through the living room from the bedrooms. Those with any sort of physical infirmity need to beware.

A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. If you want peace and quiet and seclusion this is the place.i gave a 7 for amenities because there isn't any but that's the reason we stay there.

Such a homely, cosy cottage. Garden steep but enclosed and great for the dogs. On a no through road so really peaceful. Lots of walks around the village. Loved out stay, thank you.
