Green Oak Cottage is linked to the owners’ home and is beautifully furnished with original artworks. It has a comfortable interior; on the ground floor is an open plan living space with French doors which open onto a private patio and undisturbed views. There’s also a ground floor shower room. Heading upstairs are two bedrooms: one double and one twin, and the main bathroom features a Jacuzzi bath.
The property sits on the edge of cider orchards where the award-winning Copse House cider is made. There are lovely long walks across the Blackmore Vale and several footpaths within easy reach which lead down into the village of Buckhorn Weston and the local pub for wining and dining. Within easy driving there is much to enjoy, whether taking in the lovely character towns of Sherborne, with its shops, castle and abbey, or Shaftesbury with its links to Hovis and the famous Gold Hill. You can enjoy visiting nearby attractions, such as National Trust Stourhead House and Gardens, Longleat House and Safari Park, Haynes International Motor Museum or the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum. We love Green Oak Cottage. This was our second visit and we will definitely be coming back. The cottage is lovely, very well equipped and the beds are comfy. David and Jane are excellent hosts and the welcome basket is always a treat to look forward to. The location is perfect for a peaceful break and isn’t too far from local attractions. Can’t wait to come Julie and Steve x

Lovely location in the countryside with great views and nice outdoor spaces. The hosts were very friendly and the welcome pack a nice touch. This cottage had everything we needed for our stay and was nicely placed for visiting the area.

This is an excellent place to go if you are wanting to re-charge your batteries. It is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the most amazing countryside. I didn't score the local amenities as we didn't use them and I scored an 8 for location as it was a little more remote than I thought it was going to be but it was still a lovely place and the owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. The cottage was done up with no expense spared and we even took at peek at the other accommodation, so if you wouldn't a weekend away where you were surrounded by countryside and wanted to completely unwind, I would recommend this place. The grounds were immaculate as well.

Cottage was clean beds okay. Needs tlc. Lack of drawer space main bedroom. Needed chair bust thing out. No opaque windows in bathroom. Kept blind down all the time. Owner said could not use shower head in zaccuzzi they had trouble with water going down pipe to electric below. Had to wash hair in shower and then to use jaccuzzie back up. Freezer was up high and fridge on bottom. Could not see in freezer drawers. Very small place with little work top space it’s the most we have paid so expected better. Dissappointed

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We hardly recognised our holiday cottage in your review. In our 5th year of letting we have never had a review so negative, as it can be seen, previous guests have been delighted. We are saddened that you were disappointed with your accommodation and puzzled that you did not approach about this during your stay as you knew we were happy to assist you where possible. The shower head with the Jacuzzi is used solely for washing the Jacuzzi after use by ourselves. The glass in the bathroom has never been frosted as it overlooks the cider orchard in all its glory and has no immediate neighbours unless you count the local wildlife. The property, as is shown on the website, is a place designed for 4 offering every amenity in the compact kitchen space. Your visit was at the height of the season & the pricing policy is set to match that, sadly your visit also coincided with one of the wettest and stormiest August weeks we have encountered in quite some time & perhaps this was reflected in your review.
