Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

This holiday cottage is set in a rural location, with a patio area that has some stunning views of the countryside.

Set in the picturesque Dorset countryside, in the heart of what was the Royal Stud, Green Oak Cottage is a great base to explore all that this area of Dorset has to offer. Beautifully furnished with original art works, the cottage has recently undergone a stylish facelift, and along with major changes to the grounds, it has a comfortable interior and a private patio area. The double bedroom has views over open countryside, whilst the twin bedroom looks over the surrounding fields. Linked to the owner’s house, the cottage now sits on the edge of cider orchards where the award-winning Copse House cider is made.

This is a great place for long walks across the Blackmore Vale, there are several footpaths within easy reach, many of which lead down into the village of Buckhorn Weston and the local pub. Shaftesbury, with its links to Hovis and the famous Gold Hill, is only 6 miles away, and slightly further afield, within an hour’s drive, is the Jurassic Coast. The A30 and A303 are easily accessible, and nearby attractions include Stourhead House and Gardens (National Trust), Longleat Safari Park, Haynes Motor Museum, RNAS Yeovilton, and Sherborne Castle. Other places of interest are the cities of Salisbury and Bath. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Cottage lovely , hosts excellent, made really welcome and would stay again. Not enough drawer space in bedrooms. Jane and Dave even though we turned up too early settled us in with refreshments on a very hot day on patio while they finished off getting premises ready!

The lovely owners made us so welcome and were able to give us advice on places to visit which we would never have found ourselves, particularly an amazing place called Heavens Gate. The welcome pack was a nice touch too. Well situated in a quiet spot with lovely views across the fields. We really enjoyed our week.

A perfect and beautifully clean cottage with stunning views and delightful hosts who were very welcoming and helpful. A great base to explore the surrounding area. Seeing a white owl every evening in the next door barn was an added bonus.

The cottage was perfect for our weekend away - beautifully furnished, with a real attention to detail. Spotlessly clean and a most welcome basket of goodies to enjoy. We had such a glorious time exploring the many local attractions and enjoying the patio garden with stunning views over the fields - al fresco dining with sunshine in April! Great walks in the area and another good lunch at one of our favourite pubs in Buckhorn Weston - the Stapleton Arms. We have already booked for the Autumn. The hosts were in contact to ensure we had everything we could possibly need for a super break. Thank you.

Such an amazing cottage, the owners are fantastic, it really is a countryside escape, plenty of room for supplies and facilities to cook. We will return again and again, plus our dog loves it there!

We had a most pleasant and relaxing stay at the cottage. The cottage itself was second to none in its condition, cleanliness and location. We were also most struck by the overall silence in the area at night being used to residing near the somewhat conjested and rumbling A27. We would not hesitate in recommending the cottage to our family and friends for a stay. As we said in the visitors' book there is a corner of this planet that is forever England and that is Green Oak Cottage.

A lovely little cottage with a nice view and really friendly and helpful owners. Nice little extra touches like arrival gifts make it feel more special. Wifi and phone signal very weak and temperamental, but can be good to get away from all that!
