Really loved our christmas holiday at gravel cottage. Just like home from home. None of us wanted to leave. Looking in to booking again already for the summer this time

This is the second time my friends and I have stayed at Gravel Cottage and we love it there. The house is spacious and well equipped, with lots of lovely towns nearby. It’s so homely and very clean and tidy. We’ll stay again!

From the outside, and the photos, this property looked lovely. In reality it was incredibly disappointing, very worn, tired and shabby. To list a few minor issues: worn, stained carpet in the hallway and up the stairs, ripped in parts, filthy coffee table that hadn’t been cleaned properly, stained living room rug, dead spider squashed on the bedroom wall, broken door shelf on the inside of the fridge which made it difficult to store liquids without spillage, cooker temperamental to light and one ring we could never use, shower hard to get the temperature correct: it’s either too cool or too hot. There was no garden furniture outside so we could not sit outside in the sun, and the garden was unkempt and had not been kept tidy or cutback as I would have hoped for. Also, the road nearby the cottage was surprisingly busy and noisy, and with no curtains on the landing windows, headlights would light up the hallway through the evening and night which was disruptive. For the money we paid I felt very shortchanged. I would not live in a property in this state and would not expect to charge others to do so either. While there was no major issues and the location was lovely, I would not recommend this property to anyone unless they got it at a rock bottom price or don’t expect a clean, quality place to stay. It has so much potential, and with a bit of money and effort, it could be great, but in its current state, it is not worth the money.

Gravel Cottage was comfortable and well-equipped, with plenty of space for our party of six adults, two babies and a toddler. The welcome pack and local information folder were much appreciated, and we found plenty of places to visit without travelling far. We also enjoyed the suggested walk around the village and found a newly-equipped children's playground. The toy room was a great hit with the grandchildren. We had three cars between us but there was plenty of room for them in the lane. I would certainly recommend.

Beutiful part of the world. Cottage was homely and had a lovely feel to it. Everything worked as it should (though as one might expect in a rural setting the internet was up and down). Would have no hesitation using the place again. Highly recommended.

A really pretty cottage in a rural setting. The cottage has a lot of what you need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. The beds were really comfy and the toys were very much appreciated by our 2 year old granddaughter, who loved coming back each day the 'Holiday House'. There were just a couple of glitches such as the door of the tumble drier not working and there not really always being the two parking spaces advertised (we were there over a Bank Holiday so perhaps its better in quieter times) but on the whole this was one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Thank you very much.

Comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside but would benefit from new appliances.
