Explore the abundance of wildlife in the 50 acres of ancient woodland, or spend a day on the beach at Ryde, which is just 5 miles away.

These two holiday properties are located on the owner’s small farm just a short distance from the quaint village of Wootton, which can easily be found when arriving from either of the island’s main ferry terminals. Red Squirrel Lodge (ref UKC677) is a beautifully designed, barrier free, single-storey lodge. This stunning, stylishly decorated property is not only perfect for wheelchair users, but also offers everything for families, couples, walkers and cyclists. Grange Farm House (ref UKC2531) provides spacious accommodation for larger families or groups, and offers a twin bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor, ideal for less mobile guests. The property also has parking space for four cars on a shared driveway, a large lawn area with a mini goal for playing football, and barbecue facilities. An idyllic, rural location, there is an ancient woodland at the back of the farm in which to take walks. A flourishing habitat for wildlife, you are extremely likely to see foxes, birds and owls during your stay. Red squirrels have been known to frequently join you for breakfast. You will also see a variety of wild flowers, including wild daffodils, primroses, violets and bluebells.

The properties are surrounded by countryside, yet are within easy reach of beaches and attractions. The main town of Newport is only 3 miles away, whilst Ryde, with its pleasant beaches, is 5 miles. Wootton is 1 mile away, with a good selection of pubs en-route to Wootton Bridge. There are also a couple of shops, a fish and chip shop, chemist and a Post Office. The location is a paradise for walkers, country lovers, bird watchers and cyclists. There are local forests in which to enjoy walks and horse riding, and for cyclists, there is a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines.

There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, or Blackgang Chine, which is the oldest themed attraction in the UK. Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the world-renowned sailing town of Cowes are also worth a visit. Beach 5 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Oil central heating and oil included. Initial logs for wood burner included. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate available on request. 2-acre lawned garden with patio, garden furniture and barbecue. Private parking for 6 cars.

    We picked the house because it has five bedrooms and we needed the space. There were very few of this size when we looked. It was not near the beach but the island is small so this was not a problem for us. We would like to thank the owners as they made us feel welcome and left us to it, with no intrusiveness. Our children particularly loved the grounds as the garden was so spacious. They played football in the goal every day and were on the swings most days. The weather was not great but we managed two days at Shanklin Hope beach. Despite the forecast saying 20 degrees only, we all got tanned and swam in the sea. It must have its own weather system as it was much warmer than predicted. One last notable surprise was the council run swimming pool in Freshwater. This was a lovely pool which was nearly empty on the two occasions we went. A very good rainy day activity.

    Lovely large farmhouse with plenty of room for the 7 of us. Great for the children to be able to play in the large garden and field area. Super place for spotting wildlife and great location for exploring the island. Lovely friendly and welcoming hosts.
