The village of Bonchurch lies just to the east of Ventnor and is renowned for its literary connections. Writers and poets such as Dickens, Stackpole and Swinburn all resided here for a time. Dickens remarked the village was ’the prettiest place I ever saw in my life, at home or abroad.’ The Victorian seaside town of Ventnor is situated on the southern side of the Isle of Wight, right in the heart of the famed Undercliff, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visitors will find a great variety of established local shops, restaurants and public houses serving locally caught fresh fish and locally brewed ales. Sheltered from the north by the National Trust owned St Boniface Downs, the area benefits from its own micro-climate, which provides an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna.

Explore the rock pools, great local walks and easy access to the many attractions the Isle of Wight has to offer. Outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. Beach 350 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
Grange Cottage can be booked together with Orchard Leigh Cottage (ref UKC2515) and Orchard Leigh Villa (ref W43433) to accommodate up to 22 guests.

Pleased to have baby's high chair, nice outside dining area, well equipped kitchen, generally spacious, 2 parking spaces useful. Bathroom and twin room doors couldn't be closed, en suite shower fitting needs attention and doors broken. Individual radiators can't be regulated so that downstairs is cold or bedrooms boiling. No hairdryer, no wifi, no baby cot available, latch on double bedroom door sticks and locks person inside in! DVD didn't work. Despite these shortcomings, a very pleasant house near the sea in a lovely location off the beaten track.
