Had quite a few issues, toilet overflowed, no hot water in the shower, advertised as enclosed garden but it was not enclosed, found a disused beer can on one of the chairs, front door could not be locked, oven and oven trays were very dirty obviously they never got cleaned, all in all very disappointed

Granary Cottage at Whittingham is part of a wing of a large house. It is in a fairly remote location in peaceful, rolling countryside. The property has an ensuite double bedroom on the ground floor, lounge- dining room, kitchen and a shower room off the hall. Stairs lead to the second twin bedroom. The property is suitable for four adults. The warm lounge had a tv and DVD player and many DVDs , along with some games and books to entertain guests, and information leaflets about the area. It is fairly well placed for visits to inland locations like Rothbury and Cragside and longer journeys to Berwick on Tweed , Lindisfarne and Whitley Bay. Northumbrian coastal locations are well worth visiting. There aren't any local stores so Alnwick is the nearest location for supermarkets and takeaways. Some of the lounge furniture needs to be replaced as the suite cushions are not supportive enough. During our stay we found that the duvets on the twin beds were not wide enough for a comfortable night's sleep, as they were too small to stay in place. Eventually we found that by pushing the beds together and borrowing a bed throw from the other bedroom, we were able to stop the duvets migrating !! The beds themselves were comfortable. It was clear that the property needed better preparation before our arrival and had not been thoroughly cleaned. There were spiders and webs in every room. The shower cubicle downstairs needs attention as the doors were loose and not easy to open. The oven had not been properly cleaned and there were three light bulbs that needed to be replaced. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a breakfast bar for up to to four people.
