The instructions to the cottage were fine until the last few miles, where an important Morleigh signpost was missing. There were more steps up to door, and inside than we were expecting. We managed well but it should be clearer for older people. We ourselves are well into retirement. Sitting room was uncomfortably hot during our week. However, steps down to bedroom below was wonderfully cool. No towel rail to hang wet towels was a nuisance. We would have preferred a king size bed. The welcome basket was lovely surprise and much appreciated.

A comfortable cottage in the middle of nowhere, just what we wanted.

Charming cottage, full of character and in beautiful peaceful surroundings. Light and airy, yet warm and cosy. Excellent facilities and very dog friendly. Friendly owners. Right out in the sticks down little Devon lanes, so some miles from the nearest shop which might put some people off.

Lovely relaxing holiday. Cottage was peaceful and comfortable. Welcome pack was an added bonus.

I think it would have been better to be more up front and made it clear that the cottage was really in the middle of no where. The exceedingly narrow lanes made getting about a trial, although we recognized that the setting itself was picturesque. The fridge was dirty and the placemats had retained past food stains. Worst of all was the fact that the mattress springs on the white bed were completely gone and dug into me. The information warned that wi fi was slow, but in fact it was none existent. The owners never introduced themselves to us, and may not even have been there. This was particularly worrying given that I have a heart problem and could have needed to phone from a mainline, since no mobile network was available.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for letting us know of your concerns. Matters of cleanliness are unacceptable and I will refer these to the service company. This is the first time the mattresses have been mentioned and I will investigate and replace if necessary. Regarding mobile reception, there is a strong 4G signal for Vodafone, O2 and EE. I cannot vouch for other providers. I am afraid the broadband internet is poor and this is made clear in the particulars. The 4G reception is often faster. We are 2 miles from the nearest village with a post office, village store and shop with extended hours. The nearest market towns are 5 miles away and we are equidistant from Totnes and Kingsbridge. I'm afraid I can't do anything about the narrow lanes!

The cottage was lovely. The only drawback was not having a proper boundary with the owners property. Our dog is not dog friendly and as there was another dog (lovely and very friendly), sadly we were unable to leave our dog to roam the garden unattended.
