Sat at the top of a mountain with panoramic views, Goshawk Lodge is all about the location. Direct access from the garden will get you to the nearby Cwmcarn Forest, a popular destination for hikers and bikers. Whether you are visiting to hit up some of the trails or enjoy a relaxing countryside retreat, this really is an idyllic spot! The lodge enjoys privacy and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy sunrises, sunsets, and all-round fantastic views, there is a decked seating area, BBQ and fire pit. You may even spot a pair of Goshawks perched on nearby Ash trees. As one of only 500 pairs of these rare breeding birds in the UK, it’s only fitting to name the lodge after them!
The lodge itself is well equipped for your break and has been furnished with comfort and quality in mind. An open plan layout is split into two areas… First, you’ll enter the kitchen diner area with a well-equipped kitchen and a dining table under the window to enjoy the views! Then the spacious sleeping/lounge area also faces out to the beautiful scenic views, this area has a double bed, comfy reclining sofa, log burner, TV and ample storage. There is a shower room with separate toilet.
When you stay at Goshawk Lodge, you may not want to leave! But if you do feel like exploring further, this is a great base for getting around South Wales. The quiet spot is just a short drive through forestry along a single-track country lane, when you reach the bottom, road and transport links connect you to other popular places to visit in South Wales. This area is a particular hotspot for cyclists and hikers looking to make use of the local bike parks and trails, you’ll find plenty more trails to explore, with the Brecon Beacons under an hour away by car.
For those taking a more relaxing break, a day trip to Wales’s capital city for some retail therapy and fine dining may be on the agenda – Cardiff is around 45 mins by car. And if the weather suits, head south to the coast, where you’ll find miles of coastal path and blue flag beaches to enjoy, pretty Welsh coastal towns and plenty of places to stop and refuel along the way.
