Situated within 40 acres of land yet providing easy access to exploring South Devon; Templer Cottage is a fantastic holiday base.

With wonderful views over Dartmoor and situated within South Devon countryside, this stunning complex of barn conversions (Refs HHHX and HHHW) was once part of the Stover Estate. Converted in early 2008 in a contemporary style and equipped to a high standard, with the addition of modern day comforts, they make the perfect place for couples, families and larger parties wishing to holiday together.
They offer wonderful all year round accommodation, with each cottage boasting its own patio area, with garden furniture and barbecue. Once a working farm and an old miniature railway site, Gorse Blossom Farm has some 40 acres, where guests can wander around at their leisure and which offers a haven for wildlife, including birds of prey, badgers and the lesser horseshoe bat, which has made its home here. An all weather surface tennis court will keep children and adults entertained.
Being close to the A38 makes this the perfect place from which to explore South Devon, Torquay (with its sandy beaches, 12 miles) and Plymouth, 25 miles (to see the Hoe, the Barbican, the National Marine Aquarium which is ideal for children and adults). The Eden Project (approximately
1½ hours drive) is a fabulous day out. Crealy Adventure Park is 20 miles. Exeter has a magnificent cathedral and quay, whilst a boat trip can be taken up the river to two stunning pubs. There are many villages to explore and stop off for a Devon cream tea. Dartmoor is on the doorstep, with its stunning scenery and heather clad rocky tors and ponies, and is a walkers’ paradise at any time of year, with Becky Falls (rocks and waterfalls), 8 miles. Paignton not only has more sandy beaches, but also a famous zoo.
Visit the South Hams, taking in Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. Go the other direction and take in the Jurassic Coast, or visit Beer, Branscombe and Seaton to take a ride on the Seaton Tramway. There is so much to see and do that visitors will have to keep coming back year after year to take it all in. Shop 500 yards, pub ½ mile.

A very pleasant stay from the go. It was a bit of a pain trying to initially find the place, unless you're very good at understanding written instructions and putting them to use on a map. However, I did find that using "Staplehill road" on the Google maps, took me to the exact location and made life much easier when we had to return tp the property after spending time out. A nice welcome from the owner who was very welcoming and not obtrusive at all and was very helpful whenever contacted. We were greeted with some nice cream Tea (which is scones with cream and jam, which we found out later when ordering cream tea, LOL). The place was quite spacious and the bonus was added features which were not mentioned on the add: 1) Extra toilet on the ground floor 2) Tennis court on site 3) Swings for children to play 4) Wi-Fi (Although not on the add, but we confirmed with the owner before booking. Although a bit fiddly with connection initially, but managed to sort that with disconnecting and re-connecting - may have just been my phone) There's a few little shops around 1-2 mins drive away including a post office where you can get the basic stuff required, milk, bread, eggs, etc. and there's co-op and asda between 3-10 mins away and many other shops. Trago Mills leisure park is also around the corner from here, which is fantastic for younger children up to the age of around 8-9. The location is nice and quiet but close at the same time. You get Peace and Privacy. If i'm fussy, then I would say it would have been nice if the gardens were a bit more private, maybe separated by those bamboo rolls which would give that much more privacy from the adjacent garden of the cottage next door. The property is a decent size with a nice open plan kitchen/reception/diner. I would however mention, that the chairs were not the most sturdy and would sometimes make you want to take caution when sitting down, but that's just me nit picking. Was pretty well equipped in the kitchen including oven, microwave, kettle, dishwasher and even a nespresso machine (including starter pods). A bigger TV for the size of lounge would be highly appreciated for those nights in watching a film, etc. Also had a DVD player and I think a satellite box. We would visit again for a nice clean place, good location and a pleasant owner.
