This granary is part of the 15th-century farmhouse which has been converted to a very good standard with beams throughout, and is located on a mixed working farm on the edge of the village in the North Downs in an AONB. Once inhabited by the Romans and more recently in the 19th century, infamous for its smuggling connections, most notably the Ransley Gang where one of the local pubs was used as the headquarters. The village has a wonderful butchers with bakery that has won many awards and a newsagent/convenience store that sells a great selection of cheeses and picnic produce. There are two pubs in Aldington, one within walking distance that has a separate restaurant area. An ideal holiday place for walking on the Saxon Shoreway footpath. Lovely property, quiet area, well equipped, warm, cosy and comfortable, plenty of parking, received warm welcome from the owner, good wifi: best features are the three roomy bathrooms and TVs in all the bedrooms!

My family and I had an amazing week at Goldwell Granary in October. Prior to visiting I had to contact them and Sue was very quick to respond and was very helpful. When we arrived there was a lovely welcome hamper which was a lovely touch, and Sue came and introduced herself in the evening to make sure we had settled in OK. The house was very spacious and cosy and having 3 bathrooms was a god send. There is also ample off road parking. There were plenty of things to keep us occupied for the week. There are many lovely pubs nearby, the 5 Bells as Brabourne is a must, Port Lympne zoo is under 10 minutes away and is definitely worth a visit, as well as the Ashford outlet centre. There are also places of historic interest nearby such as castles etc but we ran out of time. I would thoroughly recommend Goldwell Granary to anyone and I will definitely be re-booking.

Goldwell Granary is a lovely, spacious cottage furnished to a high standard and extremely clean and comfortable. As a family of 4 with 2 teenagers (one boy, one girl) having 3 bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms was a dream. The welcome pack was a nice surprise, full of local produce (although some milk for a cup of tea would have been the icing on the cake). The Walnut Tree pub in the village was very dog friendly and the food was good value for money - we ate there 4 days out of 7! My reason for marking it down slightly is that for us the location wasn't great, as it was quite a drive to the coast and it meant using the car every day. We also had to pay a high premium to stay in August, which to a degree you do expect when you have children, but I saw an advert while I was there offering a week in September for half of what we had paid, so that grated a little. That said, I cannot fault the property and if you want a quiet peaceful break, in a home from home, it would be perfect. I would highly recommend a visit to the Lympne Animal Park and if you have young children the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway steam train. Our dog loved the location and did not want to leave!

A very spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated cottage. It was well placed for us visiting the local area. We appreciated the treats on arrival and the information in the cottage to enable us to make the most of our holiday.

Fantastic for anyone who needs ground floor accommodations. The ground floor bed and bath facilities were wonderful for my elderly mother-in-law. Overall the cottage was comfortable and had lovely decor. The hamper filled with wine, milk and goodies was a nice welcoming touch. It was a good location for exploring Kent. We were able to go to Canterbury and Leeds Castle plus the lovely town of Rye. All very easy to get to. There were a few things that would have made our stay better. There was no hand soap in the bathrooms. There wasn't any laundry soap either. We stay in a lot of self-catering places and those are things they always have. One of the sinks in upstairs bath wouldn't drain. Inside cupboards were very dirty. Washing machine/dryer didn't work particularly well. Ended up line drying. I feel it was a little overpriced for the size of the cottage, but would still recommend.
