Description

Nestled in a peaceful Yorkshire village, Gilson Cottage is an idyllic location for a quiet retreat with your family.

Opposite the village green and stream in the peaceful village of Brompton, Gilson Cottage is the ideal destination for guests wanting to enjoy a relaxing break at any time of year. With a great local pub that serves food situated just a short walk from the front door and a super useful village shop just a little further along the way. Gilson Cottage is the perfect spot for guests wanting to leave their car behind and enjoy the benefits of staying at the heart of a traditional North Yorkshire village.
Perfect for walkers, cyclists and ramblers there are plenty of well-established walks, public footpaths and cycle routes that lead directly from the village, out into the magnificent countryside of North Yorkshire and beyond, including the very popular Coast to Coast walk as well as many others. With the North York Moors and the North Yorkshire Dales only a short drive away, guests will be able to take in many of the fabulous natural sights, including becks, waterfalls, hills and dales either on foot or by bike. The bustling market town of Northallerton is only 1½ miles away from Brompton and offers guests plenty of opportunity to enjoy a pleasant afternoon browsing the shops or stopping for lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants, pubs and cafes that line the high street. There are markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as well as a popular monthly farmers’ market offering local produce, food and drink. A little further afield, but still only a short 5 mile distance away, guests will be able to take a trip to Osmotherley, which is always popular with visitors to the area. Racing and motocross racing are also available to enjoy. Or take a trip to York and Newcastle using the mainline train service.
Gilson Cottage is perfect for couples, families and guests who enjoy sharing a holiday or short break with friends. Renovated throughout, the cottage is well presented and furnished to a good standard. On the ground floor is a fully fitted kitchen with modern appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine, dining area and living room, full of character with a wood burner. Outside the cottage is a small courtyard area with outdoor table and chairs and chiminea to keep the area toasty warm on a late summer’s evening. A very well equipped cottage where everything worked! Warm and cosy, very comfortable bed. Lovely view from the main bedroom over the village green. Spotlessly clean.

Canny and cute little cottage overlooking the village green. Everything a couple or small family would need. Ideally situated to explore North Yorks; easy to reach the coast an moors via scenic drive. Very close to Northallerton for all requirements but 3 pubs and small shop in walking distance for immediate essentials

Overall, this was a lovely holiday cottage for me, my wife, two teenage girls and Chester our springer. The cottage was an absolute pleasure with all the mod-cons, appliances easy to work out without spending hours reading through manuals, lovely hot shower, very comfortable beds, log fire a treat for those wet days. Made to feel very welcome by the owners with lots of little touches such as treats for your pet, umbrella's for wet days etc. Overall a very comfortable stay. Fantastic location with a public house 200 yards away (nice meal too) with lots of walks. Plenty to do further afield, if your happy to drive.
