Description

Perfect for a romantic break away with your loved one, Garden View is the idyllic base to explore the attractions that surround.

Set in a quiet residential area with sea views, Garden View is a comfortable apartment attached to the owner’s home, which has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard. There are 15 steps down to the entrance, and the garden is shared with the owner, but has its own private patio with garden and chairs, ideal for al fresco dining.
Close to many amenities, it is about a 20 minute walk downhill to Brixham Harbour. South Devon’s two cities are Exeter and Plymouth and are both within easy driving distance, 30 miles, and offer their own tourist attractions, historical buildings, and shops. Dartmoor is breathtakingly beautiful and at once romantic, mysterious, wild, eerie. You can visit the tourist spots or, if you are an experienced walker and navigator, you can get away from the tourists and explore the depths of Dartmoor. You will see wild Dartmoor Ponies, cross ancient stone bridges spanning the clear bubbling waters of the River Dart and other rivers, and feel the somewhat eerie presence of the ‘Tors’ and it has seven rocky hills which preside majestically over the moors. Dartmouth is the neighbouring town to Brixham, which is situated on and across the mouth of the River Dart. Take the ferry across to Dartmouth, and whilst waiting at the jetty, look across to Dartmouth at the Britannia Royal Naval College which is located on a hill above the river, where it glints in the sunshine, and a splendid backdrop for the river estuary with its many sailing boats, naval boats and pleasure cruisers. Look to the mouth of the river and you will see two castles, those of Kingswear and Dartmouth, true fairy-like castles guarding the mouth, with the rocky waters of the estuary lapping at their feet. Don’t forget to visit Agatha Christie’s home ‘Greenway’, which was for many years her summer residence, now opens to the public. There are also many National Trust properties all waiting to be explored. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Lovely holiday, fantastic cottage, clean, very comfortable and welcoming. After a stressful 6 hour drive, due to unexpected traffic conditions it was great to have coffee, tea and homemade cake in the accommodation, we enjoyed these sitting on the lovely decking area with sea views.

Garden View is situated in a quiet rural location between Brixham and Kingswear. The apartment was very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The owners were very welcoming and available to give advice or suggestions if needed. Shopping facilities and holiday activities are a short drive or bus ride away. The location suited us as we enjoy coastal walking, wildlife and spending time on the local beaches. We would definitely stay here again.

The apartment was modern and well appointed, but we were not aware when booking that it was part of the owners house, and thus was not as private as we would have liked. It also suffered from some noise from the rooms above, particularly in the bedroom.

This is a great base to explore the area and an ideal size for a couple with everything you need. It is more like a 30 minute walk down to Brixham, parts of which don't have a footpath. However, there is an excellent bus service a minute's walk away on which free passes can be used or a weekly pass can be bought on the bus. Great to be able to leave the car. Brixham is also a lovely town with nice cafes, restaurants and a high street for shopping.
