From surfing, or paddle boarding at the local surfing school, taking in the breath taking views on one of the many hiking or cycle trails, or even discovering the varied seafaring heritage of the nearby coastal towns, you can do as much (or as little) as you wish.Gamekeeper’s Cottage is a beautifully furnished traditional stone built cottage. Stepping inside you are welcomed by the kitchen, where you can enjoy family meals together after a day of exploring. Through to the living room which boasts a wood burner to keep you warm even on the coldest winter days, making this room really cosy and inviting. Looking out through the glass doors you have the private enclosed garden. The tiered garden is backed by a wooded area, where you can watch the birds and other wildlife. There is a seating area outside, the owners have thoughtfully added a patio where you catch the most sun rays, so you can enjoy sitting outside with a glass of wine, or even make the most of the summer weather with a BBQ. The shed outside has been kindly filled with equipment ready for a day at the beach, including wind breakers as well as buckets and spades. Back inside the stairs lead you up to three bedrooms, a double bedroom with an en-suite shower, a second double room as well as a single bedroom. Plus a main bathroom with a shower over the bath. Downstairs you also have a discrete additional toilet in a cleverly laid out room under the stairs. The location is fabulous, Sandsend is a gorgeous little coastal village, and at low tide you have a vast expanse of soft sand, whilst at high tide on stormy days the waves are spectacular and crash over the sea walls. The cottage is on the estate of Raithwaite Hall which is a luxury hotel popular for weddings and special events, why not treat yourself to a meal at their restaurant made using the finest local ingredients, you can book yourself into the spa for a day of pampering, or in an evening you can pop into the bar for a beer or two. In the village itself there are some wonderful cafès, a small local shop, a friendly local pub as well as a popular restaurant.Following the coastline you have the Cleveland Way walking trail, leading up north towards Runswick Bay, Staithes and Saltburn, or to the south you have Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough, all of which are ideal for days out and have their own character and charm. You are surrounded by the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, you can explore on foot, by car or even by steam train. The heritage railway runs from Whitby to Pickering and stops at some beautiful villages along the way, you may recognise Goathland from the TV series Heartbeat or from Harry Potter as the location was used as Hogsmeade. Whitby draws guests from around the world, its cobbled old town road lined with quirky independent shops and cafès is charming, with the iconic Abbey atop the cliff. There is so much to see and do, you are sure to fall in love with the area as well as this stunning cottage. Beach ½ mile. Shop 1.3 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
