Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Within a 15-minute walk of the beach, this cottage sits in a prime location for touring and is perfect for a getaway to the North Cornwall Coast.

This detached bungalow, sitting in the grounds of its larger sister property, Freefolk (ref W44129), is situated just a few hundred yards from the North Cornwall Coast and just a 15-minute walk from the beautiful sandy surfing beach, shops, pubs and restaurants of Polzeath. In fact, once you have parked up, you really don’t need the car since you can just stroll down the sandy path to the beach or the village. Polzeath is a pretty little village set behind a fine sandy beach which is known for its good surfing, where you will find surf board hire and lessons to enjoy. The cafés, restaurants and bars all serve local ales and home-cooked food, many with terraces that overlook this super beach.
Just a short drive away are the coastal resorts of Rock and Daymer Bay, where you can find a variety of water sports or take a ferry across to Padstow with its array of pubs, shops and restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous fish restaurant. Wadebridge is 7 miles, where you can cycle or walk the popular Camel Trail. Also within easy reach are the many seaside resorts on the North Cornwall Coast including Newquay with its famous surfing beaches, zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium. Further up the coast are Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series ‘Doc Martin’; Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur; and Boscastle with its pretty harbour. Beach 300 yards. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.

This is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic setting. It was spotlessly clean and there was even a some milk left int the fridge so we were able to have a cup of tea on arrival. The immediate area was very peaceful and the garden looked over a field where baby rabbits were playing and feeding in the early evenings. Access to the coastal path is just along the private road leading down to Polzeath with an uphill walk all the way back. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this cottage in an instant.

I can't fault the cottage at all. The only downside was the location on a dark October night. It may be 10 minutes walk down to the beach but its more like 30 min walk back up the hill

Had a really good week at Freefolk, weather was kind and the beach was fabulous. The accommodation was very modern and had everything we needed and in a good spot for the beach and surrounding areas.

Had a lovely, peaceful, relaxing holiday at Freefolk Cottage. It is a beautifully decorated, equipped and maintained property with everything appearing to be almost new. My son slept on an inflatable mattress (which we took with us) in the second bedroom - which was snug but sufficient for our needs (we had been warned by the owner that the room was very small). The location was perfect for us - being 10 minutes walk from Polzeath beach and an even shorter distance from the wonderful coastal path. Polzeath is a busy, surfing village - which comes with many food outlets. However, there is also a good local store at Trebetherick which has the advantage of being less crowded and not requiring the uphill walk back :) My only suggestions would be for a full-length mirror and a pair of kitchen scissors; also the washing line was very difficult to open and close. The parking is slightly tricky but do-able (just because of the angle needed and the fact that the road outside is very small). None of these affected the high quality of the property or the holiday in any way at all. It was a perfect week and I would thoroughly recommend.

The cottage was perfect for us, two adults and a 1 year old. The small room was ideal for the cot and the garden great for our little one to have a run around. Lovely views and a great location for beach and walks.
